If I don't feel the "urge to burn", meaning I look at my gym and walk by really fast and pretend I didn't see it, I know I need extra motivation. Most nights, before I go to bed, I track what fitness I need to do the next day (I have mine listed in groupings by day.) So the workout is there and waiting on me to finish it. If I can't get moving, I keep staring at that fitness tracker and it will eventually "guilt" me into working out because I can't stand to erase it and do nothing.
I have actually found a new trick that works for me on motivation and positive reinforcement. I go into my Yahoo or SparkPeople calendar and add 1 positive statement that repeats for an entire week that I will read as an e-mail when I check my e-mail every day.
When I sit down to watch evening TV, because I cannot give it up, I keep fruit on a plate and eat the fruit instead of chips or anything else. If I don't eat them, it's okay. If I do, it's still okay because I have already added them to my tracker. So there are no chips or snacks to reach for that are not healthy. Some people don't like to eat so much before bedtime, but I start munching around 8 pm and quit by 10 pm. I am usually asleep by 1 am, but never on an empty stomach.
If you find that you just ate under calories for the day, eat a cup or two of Fat Free Light yogurt. Most store brands carry a wonderful selection that will be around 100 cals, and less than 20 carbs (like Publix brand).
