GIMME FIVE!

Or better yet, give me 10 webbed fingers. I use webbed swim gloves which really increases the resistance when I do water aerobics or swim. Try it and see if your arms aren't a little sore the next day.

I CAN DO 20 MINUTES, BUT 60 MINUTES IS TOO LONG!

On the days I do cardio only at the gym, my routine is to do 60 minutes. I dread it because it seems so long. Lately rather than stay on one piece of equipment for the entire time, I have spent 20 on the elliptical, 20 on the treadmill and 20 on the bike. It goes so much faster and before I've had time to think about how much longer I have to go, I'm done. WOOHOO!

USING THE FOOD TRACKER

Again, this is a no brainer, but for those like myself, who want to deny the obvious...I get much closer to my dietary goals when I enter my food in the food tracker before I eat it. I think it's called planning.

KEEPING YOUR SALAD CRISP, FRESH & READY

Once a week I make a huge batch of basic salad which includes 2-3 different kinds of lettuce, radishes , onions, red cabbage & sliced carrots. After everything has been washed and chopped, I use a salad spinner. The salad then goes in a zip-lock bag with paper towels which help absorb extra

USING SPARK PEOPLE GRAPHS

When I've had a not so good day, it helps me keep my perspective to view my food, exercise or any other goals over a longer period of time than just a week. Using the SP graphs helps me see that it is the long term consistency that will get me to my goals.

THE SPARK PEOPLE LIBRARY

I try to read three articles a day all on different subjects. Because I've been on a "diet" since I was in the 2nd grade & have read a lot about diets, I really did think there wasn't too much I didn't know about losing weight. I was so wrong...the SP articles are very motivating and helpful.

COOL & REFRESHING, WHIP UP SOME BANANA SOFT FREEZE!

I don't remember where I read this, so forgive me if I'm repeating someone's secret. I used 3 frozen med bananas, put them in the blender with a touch of skim milk and the result was banana soft freeze. I mixed in a little cinnamon and it was a nice treat.

WATER! WATER! WATER!

Okay, okay, we've all heard a million times how important hydration is when exercising. I know this! 30 minutes into my walk in the desert when the temperature was under 100 degrees, I was tired, hot & noticed I wasn't sweating very much. Nobody but me, giant saguaros & the trail ahead. My h20

KEEP COOL IN HEAT WITH FROGG TOGGS CHILLY PAD SPORTS TOWEL

The Sonoran Desert has hit triple digits making it virtually impossible to exercise outside after 7:00 AM. When I missed my window of opportunity for cooler AM temps yesterday, I walked 45 minutes in 108 degrees. Yes I was hydrated before I started & I had plenty of water with me. What made it
