It is imperative to surround yourself with people who sincerely wish you well! Dump those negative people around you.and those who would sabotage you and your commitment to a healthy life style. This may sound hard hearted and you may only end up with one or two people but believe me, you wil be better off in the long run! Success can be yours!
I find that using 0% fat Greek yogurt (I like Fage from Costco) in place of full fat or even low fat sour cream works well in nearly everything, even in a cooked/baked item. I get less fat overall and an extra protein boost. I tend to not eat a lot of meat so the extra protein is a plus for me.
Are you feeling an unhealthy craving? Place washed and patted dry grapes in a baggie, and leave them in an accessible place in the freezer. When temptation strikes, grab a grape or two. It takes a while to thaw and while you're rolling it around in your mouth, you'll have time to consider if that unhealthy snack you're craving is worth it. Frozen fruit, on the other hand, is tasty, easy, healthy and can often fill the bill until your next meal.
When I plan what I'm going to eat, it ensures that I don't overeat. And when you write what you eat, EAT IT! That way you won't reach for something that's not healthy. Otherwise, you'll want to beat yourself up about it. And you don't have to do that. By writing down what you eat, your making a promise to yourself that your going to eat healthy for the day. This is a lifestyle change. You have to start somewhere. And, it also helps to plan your meals the night before or a few days in advance.
I hate plain yogurt by itself, but what I've discovered is that it works amazingly in recipes that call for sour cream. Pretty much any recipe that calls for sour cream, you can sub plain yogurt measure for measure, and you won't notice a difference. But you'll have significantly cut the fat and increased the protein. What could be better? Works especially well for dips. Mix 50-50 with regular guacamole, and you've cut your fat in half and added a lot of protein! Best is that it's yummers!
