Every 2-3 days have a "chop fest"! Fill a few tupperware boxes with lots of washed and chopped/sliced salad and veggies e.g. lettuce, carrots, cucumber, onions, mushrooms, peppers, baby tomatoes, corn, peas, beans, little broccoli florets, bean sprouts and so on.
Then anytime you want to prep...
If you are serious about lowering your intake of sodium, then remove your salt shakers/mills from the table and stick them back in the cupboard.
Use fresh milled black or mixed peppercorns, white pepper, cayenne, tabasco or ground spices like nutmeg or coriander seed to add zip to your food!
Just because you are cooking for one, or in a hurry, or "only" cooking for the family... it doesn't mean you shouldn't make your meal look resplendent!
Think about how wonderful some of the photos look next to recipes... even the healthiest, lowest calorie meals can look mouth watering!
Just because it works for you, doesn't mean it will work for everyone! Don't force your perspective, or be insensitive to another person's issues. There is no "right way" here. Be generous with your tips and advice, but be open to other suggestions too... you may just learn something new!
If you are feeling depressed, or tempted to overeat, log on to SP, and leave positive messages or blog comments for ten random people who aren't on your friends list. By the time you've finished, some of the positivity you left will have rubbed off on you! :o)
If, every time you eat something you shouldn't, or gain a pound, you tell yourself you are going to "start again" tomorrow... you are just reinforcing the idea that you failed. You didn't fail. And you don't need to start over. You just ned to pick up where you left off and ..... KEEP GOING!
The day before your weekly shop, plan your meals for the following week, so that you can put together a full shopping list with everything you need. List the items in order of roughly where they are in the grocery store. Then... stick to the list!
The more you support others with help, advice and attention, the more you reinforce positive attitudes and behaviours in yourself. Be a friend. To them.. and you!
Just because something is good for you doesn't mean you have to like it! Why eat things you don't like just because they are "healthy"? It will just leave you resentful and more likely to binge. Experiment, find out what you like and then ENJOY eating!
