In training for a marathon walk, I learned that walking w/your arms swinging at your sides causes the swollen fingers. Proper form has the forearm at a 90 degree angle (like a runner) which prevents the swelling. If this is hard, hold a string or stick between your hands to help keep hands up.
I have a daily goal: "Envision positive outcomes for the day." Whenever I catch myself rolling my eyes or thinking negatively, I pull that goal out of the back of my mind and focus on changing my perspective on whatever it is I'm feeling negative about.
