The tried-and-true habits that have helped you lose weight the right way.
Be honest with yourself! Sometimes I would take a few bites of something (cookies, cake, chocolate!) and the devil on my shoulder would tell me I don't need to write it down...luckily the angel on the other shoulder has become louder and I started to really hold myself accountable.
I try to keep myself busy when i'm at home to avoid the boredom munchies, it really does work!
A secret to success for me has been maintaining a daily caloric intake LESS than what SP suggests. I don't do it on purpose but have found most often that I am not hungry enough to consume the 1400-1700 calories each day. This allows me to be a little more lazy with regard to exercise.
I always felt so guilty if I don't eat everything on my plate. I'm breaking this habit and I will literally throw food away if I have to. To avoid this, I just try to put less on my plate or set the rest aside for a snack or another meal.
Portion control they say is the way to go. Well I have designated Sundays (my only day off) to make meals and designate portions in advance. I love the little ziplock or glad containers - I portion out for example 1/4 chix breast, 1 cup of brown rice or whole grains, and a side of green veggies.
Everyone, myself included lug around their water bottles, and I rarely see anyone take a sip. So while at work, I bought myself a nice stemmed glass, and pour my ice cold water into the glass. Makes me feel like drinking it and seems much more manageable. Being cold adds to calorie loss!
When I first started the program I found it easier to count calories by using foods that are pre-portioned. Like applesauce in the cups, brown rice in the cups, lean cuisine panini as a treat for lunch and to keep peace with my husband I eat low calorie foods he prepares, but in a salad plate.
Went to Tiger baseball game. I knew there would be nachos, hot dogs, chips, ice cream snacks. So I brought honey baked wheat pretzels, bottled water and cut up applies, My wt. stayed about the same. YeaH!!!!!!!!!!!! it worked.!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you know you can customize your meals on your Nutritional Tracker - and create other meals? I created a morrning snack and an evening snack. That way, I plan for them, and I never get the munchies!
I got really excited tonight when I had an "aha" moment. I take a number of pills each night and usually take them all in one big swallow of water. Tonight I took them individually and consumed 2 cups of water...woo hoo.
