A Beginners' affirmation

Want to use affirmations but have no idea where to start. This one is ideal, covers everything, and will open you up to more from the Universe. Learn and repeat...

"I am willing to change,
I am willing to release the need to avoid change,
It is easy to change,
It is safe to change,
I accept this change now".

Reading or Watching the News When Exercising

When I think about skipping my gym workout on the way home from work (thinking "I'm too tired"), I convince myself to go anyway by telling myself I will just "read my kindle" or watch the news at the gym, and workout on the treadmill or stair stepper. If I have these distractions, the time goes by quicker, and I often end up staying a little longer, just to finish the chapter or the show.

Celebrate Recovery

CR has opened my eyes, mind and heart. Having a family of people in similar situations to my own not only makes us all able to relate to one another but accountable for one another as well. And receiving milestone chips is tangible reinforcement that with each new moment, I am making healthy choices for my body and soul!

Keep It Simple

Staying motivated for me means lightening up in as many areas of my life as I can. If I take it all too seriously, most especially myself, I become overwhelmed and my resolve to lose weight falls away. And laughter is a life saver. emoticon

Resentment transformed into motivation

In my previous job, I was in a physical and motivational rut. With high responsibility and supervisory duties, I felt trapped at my desk, not even taking lunch. I resented how others seemed to leave so easily, especially the smokers who would go for their breaks. I realized that resentment only hurt me inside. I chose to start a "stair break" for 5 minutes to take the 5-level flight of stairs once. I struggled but eventually built up to taking them 5 times in 10 minutes, and felt like a winner!
