If you completely cut out that one vice you're setting yourself up for a binge. Find smaller servings that fit in your day & soon you'll find you can live without!! And you still have a nice treat once in a while.
When someone asks you to supersize, ask for the Junior version instead. Then take your time enjoying it. You can still enjoy your food, just a smaller version. See if the restaurant has a low cal option or sub a salad instead of a side. (easy on the dressing!)
I never liked eating carrots, but I liked juicing carrots. Well I bought a small bag of mini carrots to snack on at work and I have grown to really like them. They are sweet and crunchy, and after so much chewing I'm satisfied.
I can't look at a big bottle of water without getting discouraged. But I have found that if I have a big bottle and add just 16 ozs. of water to it at a time, it's easy to drink that "small" looking amount. Do that 4 times (add a rubberband to the bottle each time to keep track), done!
To curb my chocolate craving, I make diet hot chocolate. It takes a while to drink it, because its hot, and I get the chocolate taste with little calories.
When I am craving chocolate, I slice a banana or a few strawberries and drizzle them with chocolate syrup. By the time I finish this delicious snack my craving is satisfied. Yes I have indulged in a few calories, but not the number I would have by succumbing to a chocolate bar!
Buy a decorative set of measuring tools that you can keep on a
hook in your kitchen/prep area, Keeping them in site will keep you using them! I found a great set w/a celestial theme, there are lots to choose from out there.
Supposedly if you drink a little orange juice WITH your oatmeal it increases the nutritional benefits of both foods. I don't know if I believe this, because I read that the study was funded by Quaker and the orange juice people, but it is worth a try anyway. I'm running a clinical trial of one.
Cutting calories doesn't mean we have to stop eating. We have to apply a few tricks. One trick is to either drink a glass of water right before dinner or have a bowl of soup as a starter. This makes you have a full feeling yet the amount of calories, if the right soup chosen, is significantly lower!
Don't make the mistake to eat lots of it because of the word light in it. Many times fat is replaced by carbohydrates meaning suger. E.g. normal peanutbutter is 95 kcal per single serving, light peanutbutter is still 84 kcal per single serving. And there are many more examples like this one!!
