craving sweets

When I get a sweet craving in the evenings, I eat a package of 3 dried prunes and drink a cup of water--that way, I've satisfied my sweet tooth, and I've added fiber and water to my diet. Try it, you'd be surprised how well it works--I know I was.

Plan ahead!!!

If you plan ahead for the day chances are that you'll stick to it and won't over eat that day. It is when I have no idea what I'll be eating that I end up making rush choices when I'm really hungry and in result my choices are not the best ones.

CHerries help you sleep

DId you know that eating cherries as a bedtime snack can help you sleep better? I have sleep apnea and had a hard time getting to sleep and staying asleep. Now I eat a few cherries before bed and am sleeping much better. Try it!

healthy eggplant parmesan

my family loves eggplant parmesan and trying to find a healthy way to prepare it was driving me crazy. but i did figure out a way to enjoy this rich entree but not feel guilty about it. homemade sauce - soy cheese - and broil the eggplant under the broiler. sauce on bottom eggplant and cheese on top

Summer drinks for kids

I buy Koolaid packets and only add 1/2 of the sugar.It still tastes good but isn't overly sweet. Also Sam's Choice (Walmart) Clear American carbonated water. It does have some aspartame. My kids LOVE it, especially black cherry and peach! I let them mix the flavors to create their own flavor.

Lo Cal, No Fat Dessert - if you like banana's :)

Peel banana, cut slices 1/4" - 1/2". place toothpick in each slice, place slices on wax paper, place in freezer until frozen. great frozen snack - tastes just like banana ice cream. Some people like to dip in chocolate before freezing, but I like them better plain. Enjoy!

Chop & Cut

When I first get home from the Grocery Store, I sit down and spend the time cutting all my veggies for the week up in slices and sticks. I than place them in zipper bags. I find that I am quicker to grab veggies for a snack if I do this than if I leave them whole in the fridge.

Grocery Shopping

A good friend once said the healthiest foods at the store were along the walls, not the aisles. I follow her advice and up on lots of fresh produce, natural cuts of meat, fresh fish, yogurt, cheese, and preservative-free bread from the bakery, skipping over the processed junk in boxes.
