With all the healthy eating, I get bound up. The quickest natural way to relieve the situation is one tablespoon of vegetable oil. No taste, few calories and no drugs.
Rice cakes and a cup of diet hot chocolate tide me over until I can make a healthy dinner!
If you're hungry and you want a snack, divide the snack in smaller portions and eat 1 piece, then wait a couple of minutes, eat the next piece etc...
I cut up melons purchased at the grocery store right after getting them home. Each melon (honeydew, cantaloupe, watermelon) goes in its own see thru container. This way I am motivated to eat more fruit before it goes "bad." Also makes it an ideal snack for the kids to help themselves to!
I like to cram in 2-3 servings of veggies with my noodles. I'll cut up carrots, mushrooms, onions, spinach, etc and toss them w/diff types of noodles, gr. chicken and sauce. Look for recipes like Korean Jap Chae, or Lo Mein. Tons of veggies which makes the portion look HUGE, and really filling.
For my daily salad at work, I put 1/2 the serving amount of my dressing in a baggie with my cut up tomatoes. The juice from the tomatoes adds to the dressing as well as seasoning the tomatoes. I then pour it all on top of the salad and shake it. Covers the salad and saves calories!
I like to eat light two days a week (my lower calorie limit) and moderately 3 days a week (in the middle of calorie limit) and splurge 2 days a week (top of my limit both days, and even 100 to 200 calories over my limit one of the two days).
SOMETIMES I'M FAMISHED IN THE EVENING, SOMETIMES NOT HUNGRY AT ALL. THIS WEEK I REALIZED THAT WHEN I HAVE A FIBER DRINK POWDER AFTER A MEAL I DON'T GRAZE AND STICK TO MY PLAN
3 ricecakes (kalo) make aprox 1 slice of bread. You feel full and keep enjoying having a sandwich. A couple of ricecakes are enough for me. I eat 1 slice of bread and I want them all!!!!
A nutritionist told me that when our heads crave simple carbohydrates (sweets), it is actually the BODY craving complex carbs. We just misinterpret the signal. Eat a fruit or vegetable and the craving will likely go away. You'll feel better and avoid the muffin top at the waist of your jeans!
