Take things one step at a time
Concentrating on one thing to change and getting that right really helps me see that I am making positive and lasting changes. After that one thing is in, then I can tackle the next. Bit by bit I will get where I want to be!
There will be no better time than NOW. Waiting "until....." is a procrastination technique. Pick TODAY and simply start! Drink more water or eliminate a junk food snack or double-up on your mealtime veggies ~ ~ ~ do SOMETHING to signal to yourself that you are serious and have begun! Then, move forward; don't look back. You're on your way!
You don't have to be perfect - you just have to be consistent. Lemons and drinking your 8 glasses of water
Scrub a nice big lemon up the night before, and cut it into 8 wedges. Put it in a storage bag in the refrigerator for the next day. Use one wedge for each 8oz of water you drink; you'll have extra flavor and a visual reminder of how well you are doing with your daily water intake!
It is important to remember that being overweight or obese didn't happen over night and it takes building new habits, one at a time to over come. Fast break goals are those "baby steps" that we need. Pick something that you know will help make a difference and whittle at it--after a couple of weeks, add on a new goal to the first one. (If you try to change everything at once, it will probably burn you out and you will "give up.") Start with Small Goals - they add up
If you've never exercised it can seem overwhelming. Spare No Expense! You are WORTH it! If you have trouble getting in enough fruits and veggies, then by all means BUY the pre-cut trays and keep them in the fridge. You are worth it! In the past, you wouldn't have hesitated to buy chips, or other treats so think of the trays as your NEW you treat! Whenever I have something unpleasant or unwanted to do, I just remind myself to "eat the frog." If you were to start each day by eating a frog, nothing any worse could happen to you during that day. So when you are dreading something, just go ahead and eat the frog (get that task out of the way)! Things will be looking up after that for sure! starting off on the right foot w/ spark first thing!!!!!!!! since joining sparkpeople my routine is 2 simply 2 log in w/ Sparkpeople every day in the morning before I do anything else on the computer etc. That way, I am starting day thinking about Sparkpeople, healthy lifestyle, and getting sparked myself! Checking friends pages etc.. Start on right foot. I keep a list of 6 goals on a chart next to my bed. Every night before I turn out the light, I check off what I have done each day. The idea is that after 21 days of continually doing something, it will become part of your normal routine. |
