Since my husband became ill, I have channeled all my energy into taking care of him. He is not making as much progress because he won't get up and move. I recently had a heart attack and he has to fix his own food now and do more for himself. It was hard at first, but everyday it gets easier. I let him do it.
Many dogs, and cats for that matter, need constant cleaning around their eyes and/or mouth. Soft shop towels are fantastic to use to gently clean these areas. Just tear the amount required (no sense wasting a whole towel on a small animal), moisten with warm water, wipe.
On those days that I can't get to the pool to swim or I don't have the time to do a whole exercise video (or other circumstances prohibit) I can usually find 10 minutes to take the dog for a walk. It gets me outside ( which is also a mood lifter), I walk faster than if I don't have the dog, and I get in a minimum of 10 minutes of exercise.
Do you ever place your purse in the empty baby carrier of the shopping cart? Take an extra minute to loop and fasten the baby safety strap thru your purse strap. Now you can take your time reading those nutrition labels and give your arms and shoulder a rest. If a thief decides to grab your purse, he will have to run away with the cart as well!! ;)
I have learned that if I allow myself a small piece of chocolate at lunch time, this tempers my chocolate cravings. I buy the individually wrapped dark chocolates. I like Dove the best, but I usually get what ever is on sale. This keeps my cravings at bay!
