DIY TV Dinners

The best thing I did for my healthy lifestyle was invest in a small chest freezer and stacks of freezerware. I took one weekend, made about 10 different dishes, portioned them into individual servings, labeled them with necessary nutritional info, & froze for healthy instant convenience meals.

Save time by knowing how much things hold

have dishes and such that you know how much they hold ie: a glass for milk (or other liquids) that you know holds I cup worth exactly. It helps keep you to your portions

One recipe at a time

The easiest way for me to get into a healthy habit is by going slowly. So I add one healthy recipe to my diet at a time. Then once I have that recipe down I add another and eventually everything we're eating at home is healthy. I might try a healthy dessert to add one week or a healthy entree next..

Applesauce

In many if not most baked goods, you can substitute unsweetened applesauce for cooking oil. 1/2 cup applesauce for 1/2 oil--and muffins, etc. are just as moist and delicious--and lower in fat and calories!

Savng the Sodium on Salad Dressing

I tried lemon juice as a dressing. It tasted much better than I thought and certainly helps in watching sodium levels.

Chewing Gum While Baking

To keep myself from cheating while baking for my family by licking the spoon or trying a crumb, I pop in a piece of gum. Simple yet effective!
