To do a job quickly, I set a timer and try to beat it. For example, to clean the kitchen, I set the time for 20 min. It keeps me focused and you will be surprised what you can accomplish in 20 minutes. Putting clothes away? 15 minutes. Knowing I am playing beat the clock puts some fun in boring jobs.

Even that is usually more than one needs. I use about a1/4 cup of soap in a full load of laudry, perfectly clean, no soap build up, and saves money.
