If you don't like the commercials, perhaps you would prefer a program that you pay to use so you don't have to watch them. While the commercial plays, I mute my computer and busy myself for a few seconds especially if I'm getting ready to "do" the exercise along witht the video. Thank you Chris, Coach Nicole and all the Spark folks for giving us this great opportunity. I personally have lost over 25 lbs putting me at my ultimate goal weight since October! I could never have done it without SP! You ROCK!!

If you object to the commercial particularly on this one because the ratio of 30 seconds of advertising to 1-and-a-half minutes of video is too high, you might be missing the point.
The actual exercise is only about 3 seconds long to do one rep. Thatís 1/10 of the commercial length! BUT the benefit of the video isnít from *watching* it, itís from *doing* the exercise. And if you can *do* it for more than a minute and a half, so much the better.
I'm glad she pointed out that it's not an exercise for beginners :) Good video for me to say later...

While it may be true that the ads assist the free aspect of spark, to me 30 secs for less than a minute or two show is a cheat. I simply skip if there is an ad and look for something more reasonable. Vote on this by not watching.
BILDUF: The ads that we are "subjected to" are what is keeping Sparkpeople.com free. Maybe someday, they will have a pay option to allow you to watch without ads.
I personally don't mind the ads, as it pays Chris and company to continually add free info to share with us. (Thank you Chris Downey!!)

These commercials that we are subjected to are a real distraction and turn off. Can we somehow opt-out of the commercial nonsense?

Yes this exercise can be done with a balance board. My suggestion would be to try both the BOSU and balance board without weights until you feel confident using them alone. Additionally, just begin doing the squats. Once you have mastered the balance you can add in the overhead presses. BOSU has free video clips on their site which demonstrate a multitude of exercises. Additionally you can purchase full length DVD's.
