I started because I wanted to love the person I saw in the mirror. I wanted to be proud of one day saying "YES" I did it. I have lost weight but still on my road. I am happy that when I look back I have made progress instead of say wish I had started my change in healthy life stlye. This is a challenge for me. but I like challenges, it makes me a stronger person inside and out.

My comment is already on this page but I should have added that I want to be healthy. I'm at goal weight now and I am healthy thanks to Spark.

I looked in the mirror and didn't recognize myself. I had reached my all time high and I was disgusted with myself and right then and there I decided to join Spark.

I started because I could not clime the hill in San Francisco to get to my son's graduation at the Masonic Temple and I had to take a cab 6 blocks from the hotel to the Temple.
I did it a couple of years ago. I didn't even break a sweat.

I started SP because (1) I wanted to be healthy at my old age of 63 (2) I wanted a healthy BMI (3) I wanted to look better and feel better about myself (4) I wanted a healthy LIFESTYLE CHANGE.

I've lost ONLY 19.2 pounds since May 29, 2012. That's a lot slower weight loss than I wanted. However, if I had not started - and KEPT ON - I would be 19.2 pounds heavier than I am right now! I know that, if I keep on keeping on, the weight will finally ALL (47 pounds) be lost at some point in time!

My new motto is NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, EVER QUIT!!!!!

I conduct a weight loss class, and if I see that someone is discouraged or struggling, I ask them to think of the reason why they came here in the first place. If they've made significant progress then they deserve a pat on the back. If they are at a plateau, maybe they need to think about the reason they first came to our class to help them get re -motivated.
