My goal is to get up everyday and live life to the fullest, losing weight and eating healthy is my second goal.

Another one for my bulletin board. I had a goal and it was to get to a healthy weight. I lost 114 lbs. and reached the goal I was aiming for so you see it can be done even by someone like me who hates dieting and exercising. Now I exercise every day and I don't feel right if I miss a day. Am I liking to exercise now? lol.

I was so very concerned by some of the comments - Billie-EH is looking for more help than a motivational quote can provide and I hope someone on the Spark People Team reached out to her to get her the help she needs. I also don't quite get the negativity of a couple of other comments - if a quote is not motivating for you, do try to find one that is - there are so many out there!

Dream big goals
Then take small steps to achieve them
Celebrate each small goal
One day at a time

i am 60+ living with daily back pain--10yrs ago i was forced to quit working due to the
pain and my inability to walk for more than a few minutes--since then i have been on
a steady spirally down--gained about 100 lbs--isolate-feel i am just to fat and uninteresting
to be out in the world--this is silly because my IQ is around 140ish--have been on every
antidepressant my doctor can think of--none worked or not for very long--same with
pain killers--i refuse to take narcotics--know i will get hooked--have that type of personality
--very easily get addicted to anything--recently its been on line shopping--house looks
great--bank account not so great--my addiction of choice is FOOD--sugar/salt/together
or alone--does not matter--i do not know what i am hoping to get from this maybe a
reply--sympathy? rip me a new one?--do not know -- tell me what you think--thanks

I have spoken to many teenagers in my line of work and this is one of the things I have always said. People tend to find purpose in their life when they set goals or reach to achieve something. I told a teenager (and grown ups for that matter) who wanted to take their lives because they felt like losers. I have told them that no matter what little they have, be thankful and continue to strive (set goals) to reach for better life circumstances. There's no losing in that.

I read this and immediately was saddened and a little offended. I have no goals or aspirations, or so I thought. I do live my life very free, whichever way the wind takes me. However, after starting an angry comment here I realized that weight loss is my goal, getting healthier is my goal, starting a workout program is my goal. So while, yes, big picture - life direction - I don't necessarily have goals (which, by the way, is not a tragedy as this quote would have you believe) I do have tiny goals that will allow me to keep living free and floating on the wind. But this "inspirational" quote that suggests that people with no goals are tragic, should not be on this list.

Except for those of us who find goals far too binding and controlling. For those of us who experience life as it happens we need no goals to follow because we are following life unrestricted.
