I love the story about the young girl who carried a yoke of clay pots every day down to the river to get water. One of the pots was cracked and everyday the girl bemoaned how the crack pot leaked and by the time she got home she only had half the water she started with. Then one day as she headed down the hill she noticed that there were flowers along the path, but only on ONE side. She found in intriguing. On the way back up the hill as she bemoaned her lost water from her cracked pot she figured out WHY there were flowers on only ONE side of the path. That was the side her crack pot leaked on as she went up the hill.
What we perceive as our cracks, may be a blessing to those around us. There is perfection even in our imperfection.
I'm feeling very 80/20 today and this quote just says it all. I'm not perfect but I can choose to be happy with doing pretty darn well about 80% of the time!
I love this quote about happiness. I think all too often we say, "We'll be happy when"...we lose weight, we make more money, etc. We think everything has to be perfect, and that never happens. I like the idea of "looking beyond" what's not perfect and being happy in spite of that. That's living in the present, but waiting until everything is perfect means we never live in the present.
