It's always nice to have new clothes.

Just the opposite: Exercise motivates me to get new clothes.

New clothes are one of my favourite purchases either to reward myself for a good job (e.g., competing in a race) or to help me bust out of a slump (e.g., buy something and only wear it to do the workout I tend to avoid doing, like speedwork or strength training).

Now that you have fixed the ladies up how about an article for men? Most of the stuff for men looks rediculous.....

When I first started working out at 238 pounds, I wore whatever I had that was loose enough to feel comfortable and would hide my body. Now that I'm down to 142, I want to wear exercise clothing that fits, looks nice, and make me feel like I've really accomplished something. No more hiding behind baggy clothing for me!

Wow. I was totally blown away about clothes motivating people to work out "more". The only article of clothing that has impacted my workout were shoes--and not because how they look, but the fit. Has been a constant struggle with me.

The clothes don't motivate me to exercise. The exercise (and improving body) motivates me to buy new workout clothes.

I'm obsessed with anything lululemon, which is expensive but totally worth it. I don't mind paying extra if it means I can enjoy yoga or spinning without having to adjust, pull, or tug at my clothes. Plus, their stuff is so light and wicks away sweat; most of the time I don't even realize how gross I got during a workout.

I was surprised to discover that new workout clothes do make a difference. When I began, I wore the standard t shirts I always wear. As I started losing weight and they became baggy, I started picking up more tops made for exercise; they turned out to be more comfortable and more flattering. And they don't obscure the view of my feet when doing downward dog.

Of course I feel better! I'm human and a woman! I always make it a point to look "put together" when working out. Not with full on makeup or jewelry. Just a nice fitted tank with coordinating sneakers. I usually wear my Champion yoga pants, they are comfortable and flatter my figure! I want to see my reflection and not look like or feel like exercise road-kill.

I've discovered recently that when I wear fitted work out shirts, I suck in and work my abs a lot more during zumba and other activities so I don't look as flabby :) I've always been motivated by how I look. I guess this is one area where being shallow pays off. I always used to wear baggy shirts and sweatpants and would get down on myself while watching myself in the mirror, but fun bright work out clothes, even though I don't look nearly as good in them as my elliptical neighbor usually, make my try and work out harder.

For the first time in my life I bought some exercise clothes. Before that I'd just wear a t-shirt and some stretchy shorts. I have to admit I like wearing my exercise clothes. They were for warmer weather, though. Now, that it is getting cooler in the evenings I need to buy something warmer. Something long sleeved that I can pull off once I warm up.

My sports bras were initially my best investment and now I would never work out without one! Get a good one - 30 ($40) per bra is not too much to spend to prevent pain, bouncing and (later in life) excessive sagging.

Well-fitting tights and long-sleeved tops are brilliant - they can make you look slimmer and they feel so nice to wear, I actually look forward to putting them on!

Love the new play dry and other wicking shirts. Looking at long sleeve shirts as winter approaches. Nothing bring about guilt like new shoes either....
