What I've found works well here in Saskatchewan where the temperature reaches -40 degrees (where Celcius and Farenheit agree it's doggoned cold!) or colder in the winter is good old olive oil. Rub it into your scalp and comb it into your hair from root to tip. Cover your head with a plastic shopping bag and then a towel, and leave it there for an hour. Rub your shampoo into your hair BEFORE you get it wet and you would not believe how beautiful your hair will be. No smell, not gooey residue, just shine and softness.
My daughter uses a hi-temp hair straightener and is always colouring her hair. She's got very badly damaged hair and thought I was crazy until I hit her on a right day and helped her with a treatment. She was absolutely amazed at the difference and asked me to do it again right away. Once a week should do it for badly damaged hair, twice a month for moderate damage, and once a month for everyone else.
Just a suggestion.
