Enjoyed reading this article! Having suffered with insomnia most of my adult life, I know I need to be consistent with the ideas presented here. Love the idea of a scented bath with candles and soft music. Look forward to trying many of these ideas out. Thanks.

Very interesting piece. Lots of good suggestions. I often lay in bed restless unable to sleep and get up to read a book. I will try some of the other suggestions. I especially like the scents suggestion. I think i will try that one. I love the smell of lavender.

Great articles on sleep. I have struggled with insomnia all my life and only thought it was a gift left to me by my mom , who used to be up from 1:00 a.m to 4:30 a.m. almost everynight as long as I can remember. Now I feel there is hope for me. Sleep deprivation can lead to a lot of other health issues. I know from personal experience. Thank you so much for this information. Good Health to all!!

I have found that if I exercise , eat, or drink within 2 hours of going to bed, it interferes with my falling asleep.

Good article with good tips. I have struggled with bouts of insomnia for more than ten years and in that time have tried almost all of the methods mentioned in this article. They all work, though sometimes only in the short term. Presently, I am sleeping better than ever - maybe because I am back to exercising regularly - but also I think because I have been willing to try any and all of these and when one stops working, I try another. The important thing I guess is to never quit trying and if you find something that works, keep at it!

People please be aware that if you listen to rain or water when trying to relax you, that if you are driving a distance and it rains you will get very drowsy and may have a hard time staying awake. I use to listen to rain, babbling brooks, streams. I drive a lot for a living and after about a month of that I found I could not stay awake anytime it rained. When ever I heard rain I would get so drowsy and have trouble staying awake. I tried everything to stay awake. I stopped listening to the water at calming time or bed time.
Please be careful.

Love the part about the lavender on the pillow. Can't do the milk thing, and drinking the tea keeps me going to the bathroom during the night. All of the other things I have tried.
