  • Inspiring! I'd like to see a photo of the table!

Great article about making it personal! I loved the image of making the coffee table. Thanks for putting an image with how we can all craft our own bodies, minds and spirits.

Right on. This absolutely sums it up. When most people, myself included, first decide to lose weight, they just think something vague and big like "I'm going to lose [this many] pounds" or "This is the year I'm finally going to do it" without any kind of plan or strategy or know-how. I've lost 55 pounds since January 2007 and have 20-some left to lose, and I only finally started losing weight when, before I started really trying, I sat down and started researching and reading about weight loss and how it works and how many pounds lost per week was healthy, etc. And that's what finally made the difference: I went into it this last time with a PLAN and specific steps I would take and ways I would keep track of my journey/progress. The specifics of one's planning and goal-setting are crucial to success. Great article.
  • Thanks for wirting this article.....Simple and straight forward

What could be clearer? At first I thought, naahhh, too simplistic, but it's not. It has all of needed elements to reach a goal--thank you.

Thank you for writing this article. While I am not making a table, I am constructing a quilt and can relate totally with your steps. It is keeping me away from the table and
giving me great pleasure in the process.
My baby steps to my goals are reflected in your thoughts also.
  • This story is so true. achieving one goal can teach you how to plan and achieve others. I just returned to college after a very long break and the first class at my new university was on how to plan and achieve goals. I think everyone could benefit from a class like that.
  • I love this Story !! Its beautifully written and very inspiring !
  • Each step brings me that much closer to the finished project...sometimes the end product its not always as you visualize it but it will definitely inspire you to continue to perfect the process.
  • I love the step-by-step visual you have painted with words. Setting goals can be so overwhelming for me....... when I have visuals and illustrations... I can get a better understanding of what I'm doing and why. Thank you!

Thank you for telling your story. You are a greyt inspiration. I am just starting to set goals for myself. I hope I will be able to accomplish just half of what you did. God bless.

  • A great example, thank you! But you left out some key info ... did your wife love it?? Tell us about Christmas morning!
  • This article is spot-on. Excellent illustration of the process. Very clear writing.

Thank you! I have always been afraid of goal setting advice as it always fills me with dread! This article pushed the right button as it reminded me of a recent ball gown I made for my daughter and retracing this author's steps it reminded me of the steps I had taken to make the dress and that is when I had the AHA! moment. I DO goal set in my life! I am confident now I will be able to take part in a local 10km walk and survive!!!
