    One part of the article says eat fiber and the next lists high fiber foods that cause bloat and gas. Everyone needs to stop all the fads and listen to their own bodies and eat what is right for them. Forget the trendy books and articles. Use common sense.

    Ovarian Cancer--I thought my bloating was age-related. I cut-down on gas-producing foods and added foods such as pineapple. I never thought it might be ovarian cancer. If your symptoms persist please mention it to your doctor--casually mentioning bloating saved my life (38 months post-hysterectomy).

    THERE IS ONE REASON FOR BLOATING THAT NOONE MENTHIONED: PHYITIC ACID IN ALL SEEDS. LIKE LEGUMES, CORN, NUTS ETC. THIS ONE CAN MAKE YOU A REAL PROBLEMS IN DIGESTION IF YOU ARE SENSIBILE. I STARTED TO HAVE A MUESLI FOR BREAKFAST AND OVER THE DAY I WAS LIKE A BALLOON, ALSO STARTING A BLACK BREAD HAD SAME EFFECT ON ME. THE SOLUTION IS SOAKING OVER NIGHT, SPROUTING OR FERMENTATING. FOR ME SOAKED AND COOKED OAT PORIDGE IS BETTER THAN RAW FLAKES, FOR EXAMPLE.

  • Also having gallbladder issues is another reason for bloating (poor digestion due to little to no bile to break down foods) Having suffered the last 10 years of this, and having the dang thing removed two weeks ago, the intense bloating is gone. There still is surgery bloat but nothing compared to before the surgery.

  • Belly bloat is often caused by FODMAPs which are sugars that the small intestine doesn't digest and absorb. When these sugars reach the large intestine, they are used by bacteria for food.     Often the foods on the "healthy list" are the worst offenders when it comes to FODMAPs and IBS!
