    I know the feeling I was 304, breast cancer twice in 2 years, also had brain operation..kept getting sick lost a little weight with cancer treatment..after treatments wanted to feel better, started watching what I was eating, started using my treadmill, at first just 10 mins a day perhaps once a week as I got stronger, 20 mins, with incline, now am 20 mins 4 days a week starting to in crease my speed and setting new goals..I now weight 261, dress size was 22-24 now wear 16-18 and a large shirt instead of 2 0r 3x...I feel so much better. - 7/12/2012 6:57:13 AM

  • Congratulations, Judi! You're an inspiration!

    I'm using Leslie's Walk Away the Pounds DVDs also. I'm up to the 2 mile walk, every other day so far. I'm mostly at home because I'm caregiver for my Dad, who has dementia. I'm just not able to go to a gym or take a walk outside. I also have asthma and outdoors activities can often be a problem for me anyway. These DVDs are a perfect solution for me. I also like to do SP's Resistance Band workout on alternate days.

  • Judi! I completely agree with you! That is how I am doing it, already, too; before I, even, saw and read this article! I, too, have an auto-immune disease! Sarcoidosis! I, like you, am embarrassed about the way I look (especially, when exercising); and I don't like being stared at. I know my weight gain was due to the Steroids that I was put on; and, at first, I could not, even, exercise if I wanted to (because of balance, and control problems). Now, I am off the steroids (and found SparkPeople on May 8, 2012, when surfing the internet). I am doing my walking (privately), using my treadmill, sometimes, independently (just walking on it, uphill; I have it, purposely, set on a 10" incline); and, I , also, have the WII fitness program. I, too, have a balance problem; and, like you, trip a lot, even, over air (so I know, exactly, what you mean). Sometimes, I can't, even, walk straight; like I am drunk, or something. I, too, am working on reaching my goal in the privacy of my own home; and, am happy to have the support of SparkPeople, to share it with. Congratulations, on your weight loss, and success.   • I have been using the Leslie S series as well and it is great. I can get exercise in at home and at work when Im on break or working with students on the health iniative.

    Wow...what an AWESOME is very inspirational to me,I have been trying to lose weight for years & I think I've tried every diet out there and I own quite a few of Leslie's dvd's and my problem was I never stuck to it but after reading this I know I can do it...:)

  • I ♥ Leslie! and I recommend her to ANYONE! Especially if you are new to exercise or other higher impact routines are too much. She is super positive and always reminds you that "you can't do it wrong!"

  • Judy- You are a rock star! I am a little over one week walking outdoors. I prefer the outdoors, but I too have bad seasonal allergies and the weather in MI fluctuates all the time, so it's a great way to make sure I can get in my walking when indoors or after hours when my son is sleeping...

  • Leslie Sansone was my aerobics instructor back in New Castle, PA, before she started the walking routine. Her husband (now ex) was our high school principal at one time.
    Question: On what do you do your walking? I started one time and DH said I was going to ruin the carpet. Do you put down a sheet of plywood or something similar??? - 3/11/2011 10:45:17 PM
