  • I immediately made a pact with myself to not fall into this trap again, but to learn from my mistakes. I learned the power of taking time off, listening and respecting my body, going with the flow, being easy on myself and finding happiness in the present. love love love this quote!!!

  • This is exactly my problem right now and I'm getting close to burnout. I feel angry and resentful very quickly which is sad, because I want to relax a little and be more happy.

    I liked what the author said about falling into the process. that is something i'll write down.
  • it sounded like you were telling my story except for the running part. I had my meltdown too. It cost me two months of intensive group therapy, a heart procedure and a minor stroke. Now I work 40 hours per week and make time to love my cats and dogs. I make time to have a message weekly. it is amazing what it takes to get you thinking.
  • I wish I would have seen this yesterday before my own mini-meltdown, I was coming to this conclusion overnight but what a great message to wake up to this morning. It turns my blurry vision into a clear path.
  • What a great article! I have always been a perfectionist and it's always been "all or nothing" with me. I am gradually learning that good health is all about accepting who you are and sometime realizing the rules that work for one person are not necessarily the ones that will work for me. I am working on becoming better now but not perfect!

  • I had to learn that I could not do everything when being an A-type personality landed me in the world of fibromyalgia. I've had it since 2005 and I am still to this day learning how to pace myself and not push too hard. In college when I wanted to lose weight I just worked out 2 hours every day. Now if I work out too much, my body will rebel and I will land in bed for a week. Letting go of how I used to live has been one of the most challenging lessons in my life. Every day I strive to do what I can and I have to remind myself that slow progress is still progress!

  • This reminded me of a poster I saw once at a physiotherapist office which was funny but sort of off-putting as it made me feel he made a lot of mistakes, It had a picture a of a rather simian looking fellow (OK it was an ape) with caption "I never make the same mistake TWICE I always make new ones" !!
    I liked this article, especially where you mention about knowing your limits and respecting your body! That's a biggie for me. Thank you for helping me remember that its OK to rest and give myself a break from time to time!
  • Good article. I told all my children that there is nothing wrong with being perfect. What's important is how you define perfect; i.e., every hair in place, or every hair is present. 8-)
