A couple of corrections to this article: DON'T buy bottled water. It is the same water as you get from the tap in industrialized countries like the US, but for a 1 million % mark-up. There are multiple articles and documentaries about this if you'd like to learn. Additionally, the bottles are destroying our planet - do NOT buy disposal water bottles! And NEVER drink from water bottles you left for a long time in your car - the plastic is unstable and with the severe temp changes inside the car leaches into the water, causing CANCER.
To save money and filter your water, buy a filter for your tap, or a filter pitcher like a Brita. If your water tastes unpleasant but is reasonably safe to drink, the filter should remove all flavor, and also many microscopic contaminants.
Get a reusable BPA-free water bottle with a top that is EASY to clean - many of them are not, leaving bacteria in places you can't see - especially the types that have sipping spouts or straws. Just get used to bringing that with you everywhere. It's ok to leave an extra in your car if the car is not exposed to extreme heat or cold, at work, etc - just make sure to clean it out and refill it once every few days.
If you don't like plain water, try a tablespoon full of 100% juice to add to a full reusable water bottle to flavor it any way that you like - the flavor often will make a huge difference in how much you can drink, how quickly. And it will be natural with no chemicals or dyes, and still have almost no calories.
