Hey TammyRay How are you doing on the evening snacks? That is my biggest hurdle, but lately I have been walking on my treadmill after the kiddos go to bed and not eating.

Take Care

Hello everyone, I am new to spark people, but not new to trying to diet. That's where I have gone wrong in the past considering this a diet instead of a lifestyle change. I do well at breakfast and during the day at work, my trouble comes when I get home in the evenings......show me the junk food!!!!
I also starting this evening will stop eating at 8pm. I think I need to make adjustments for a snack after dinner and then just STOP!!! Thanks for any ideas for incouragment. I just finished off the cheese puffs and asked my husband to please not bring anymore in the house. The kids don't care for them that much but mom is killing the whole bag in just a few days. Wish me luck and good luck to everyone else

missannabelle,
popcorn isn't too bad at all. But one thing I learned from experience is to look at how many cups are actually in a bag. There can be alot of serivng in one bag of popcorn. Just remember to multiply all the nutritional data by how many servings there actually are.

after 25 years in a grocery store I found out the only way to not eat at work is to eat good breakfast and lunch and dinner. Once you start not eating all the open Goodies and snacks it comes easier. If you do have to eat at work get a piece of fruit (or take fruit), besides if you get too big the customers won't notice how good you look and the chance for meeting someone will go down,,,,,,,,

Hi, Gang!
I haven't been here in a long time! Still WAY off the wagon regarding food and exercise. Having a 20 month old foster son is great...but STRESSFUL. Not all bad stress. He's a joy! But I am totally depleted of any kind of will-power type energy. I cook, clean, change diapers, play, console, go to doctor visits, shop, play wife sometimes, eat and sort-of sleep. Sometimes I get to go to the bathroom!!! Haven't been near my bike or weights or the walking trail. Anybody want to adopt me????

Jalton we have same problem!!! Lately it's been horrible. I noticed before when I ate less refined food and ate more "plain" foods & drank more water, I'd still get urges at night, but I could say no. Lately though, it's hard to say no to anything!
I think I'm going to try water again. I really, really want sugary foods at night and often as soon as I wake up.
Will keep you posted.

I have been on vacation for a week and did pretty good at no bed time snacks. We ate pretty good suppers and then there was no food in the Motels to munch on. That really helps. Now I am off to the beach for a week, so I will try, but probably won't do quite so well. My children are planning me a two day birthday bash. First one they have ever given me. After 66 years, I may be a dooseeee... see every one next week. Stay thinking THIN.... gg

I like to have my goal as stop eating at 7 pm, but if I do eat something I hit raisins. Another trick my Dr. put me on to was using a fiber suppliment in my drink or use capsules after eating dinner, it seems to make you feel full and loosens me up a bit too.

I work different hours, usually go in at 11am and come home at 11pm. I HAVE to eat after 7-8, but since I don't go to bed until late, does it still count? I try not too eat too close to bedtime, but by the time I come home, I eat my food and fall asleep from exhaustion soon after, causing me to gain lots of weight since I started this job....any suggestions on what to do?

I am having the 'hardest' time staying out of the cookie jar at night.... What am I going to do??? I finally ate a bowl of oatmeal last night, and that satisfied me. Everything else I ate, only made me want more. Oh me.... Why, Why, Why can some people say no so easily to food, and others just can't get enough... What is the answer??? gg

I keep forgetting about sugar-free jello. I never have any on hand... Need to that corrected asap...
Last night, I did manage to quit eating after one cup of frosted mini wheats & skim milk. Wanted a tweekie but made it to bed and to sleep without it. If I can just get to bed I no longer need food...Yes that water is really a great thing... I try and remember to keep drinking it... Thanks again gg

Try drinking ice cold water till you feel
full. It also helps you burn more calories. It works for me. The more water you drink the better results you will have.At to the water slice of lemon, lime or orange to give it taste. they say that lemon or lime can help burned body fat.

Thank's everyone for the great tips. I usually keep a bag of cleaned raw veggies in the fridge. But I think the trail mix and the low cal yogart and ice creams will be a great help. I had bought some ice cream bars but they all melted when the freezer got left open for over night. My hubby screamed about that and I was so stressed I gained and ate and gained and ate. Oh me! I have to start handling lifes little ups and downs with out thinking I have to eat... I am back down to my Aprils weight, so maybe now I can go forward... this is gg signing off.

I take a handful from the bag of trailmix (nuts and dried fruit) to bed. Not the whole bag. I eat them with water.

Hello Everyone

I snack on raw veggies with no dip or fruit. My body is so used to my bad eating habits at night I think I would binge on junk food if I tried to quit cold turkey. Its getting a tiny tiny tiny bit easier.Welcome to all the newbies. Hang in there. We are all in this together.Jalton thanks for saying that it was fantastic that I only ate a small cone at DQ. I needed some encouragment today and that helped ALOT.

Kroger has their own brand of lowfat icecream with splenda for around 120 calories per serving and some delicious lowfat frozen yogurt for just 100 calories per 4 oz serving.

Well, sounds like I am right in line with this chat group. Just can't control my after 7 PM eating... starting small and making good choices sounds like a great way to start getting a handle on this problem. I will try it tonight. You are right, if it were not for this binging after 7 PM we would be the skinniest folks on the block... gg

Gosh Shelley, you did FANTASTIC to just have a small cone. The first thing I thought of when you said DQ was a foot long hot dog loaded with EVERYTHING.... gg

Hi everyone!

Welcome to all of the new posters! It's great to see you all here.

I did pretty well with the eating last night. Just a handful of grapes was all I ate past 8, so definitely a good night for me.

Karen, I knew you were going to foster Liz, but I didn't know you were getting a little boy, too. How exciting! Your life must be a whirlwind.

Thanks everyone for sharing some of your ideas to avoid packing on the calories at night.

Good luck tonight. WE CAN DO THIS!

Liz

Hi Everyone!
I think that if I did not eat in the evening, I might be a person who was at their normal weight. The evenings are the hardest of all for me.

If I am really hungry, I will eat a cup of cereal with 1 cup of skim milk. That helps curb the hunger a lot.

Sometimes, I'll eat a slice or two of turkey sliced luncheon meat.

I'll eat a hard boiled egg when hunger hits.

These things are better then me eating a bowl of ice cream or some cake product. So far, I am able to do this. I've been on the program for two weeks so I still have a long way to go.

Best to all, Caroleana

For me it was easier to just not have anything after 8 PM than to try to have just a little bit of something or find substitutions for what I really wanted. I did great for a while! But as I said in my last post I'm way off course!! Time to re-group!
Good luck!

If I am craving after dinner treats I make myself some fat-free (or low-fat)ricotta creme. Take 1/2cup FF ricotta, mix in one package of Splenda and 1/2tsp almond extract...you can't imagine how good this is!

This is my first time posting, so hello all! I snack on lowfat sugarfree icecream every night. However, I leave room for the calories so I am still seeing a steady weightloss.
