Are you up for the first ever Quick Oats team challenge? Are you willing to step up to the plate and see what you can serve? If you are willing to accept this mission, read on.

In the past, I enjoyed watching a show on the Food Network called "Iron Chef" (and likewise "Iron Chef America"). The culinary genius of the iron Chefs was tested in a heated hour long competition against a challenger; each kitchen stadium battle featured the twist of a secret ingredient to be used in each dish that the chefs prepared.

Our first ever Quick Oats challenge is a variation on the iron Chef theme. Participants will use (ok, no surprise) OATMEAL in preparing a DESSERT item. (There will be ONE MORE REQUIRED ingredient, noted below.) You have from now until Sunday (April 1) at 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time to use your culinary genius (and everything else in your refrigerator, cupboards, etc.) to perfect your recipe and post it, either to the Quick Oats team page (visit my SparkPage on the side, scroll to the bottom, and click on the "Quick Oats" icon) or wherever I post this elsewhere in the message boards. (All submissions will be collected from the various parts of SparkPeople where I put this and will be posted on the team page.)

THE CATCH: Each recipe submitted must equal NO MORE THAN 100 calories. Keep your recipe geared toward a one serving size. (We want people to be able to make and eat these themselves and toss in their opinions, without blowing their entire daily calorie intake.)

THE INGREDIENTS: Ok, you know about the Oatmeal. In addition, as you prepare a DESSERT item, you must also use...

CARROTS*

So, I open this first ever Quick Oats culinary battle with the words of Chairman Kaga, "Allez cuisine!"

* On the team page, it was asked if the carrots can be in any form. Yes! Grated, blendered, juiced, whole - it counts so long as you have "carrots" listed in your recipe. (Be sure to start with actual carrots, though, and break them down yourself (with a blender, etc.). Don't go out and buy carrot juice or something like that ;) .
