Carol,
Please don't give up on yourself, you are not alone. I'm also new here and still finding my way around here. This site has a wealth to offer for people like you and me. The support group here is overwhelming! If you cannot find support at home, please get strength from people aroun here. Continue what you are doing, do it for yourself. Healthier lifestyle is a forever journey, aren't you glad that you took the first step? I wish you all the best!! You can do it!!

Well I have managed to go from 230 to 215 in about 1 month. I now hover around 210 to 215, which is good.
I told him a week ago that we were going to start eating better and needed to make serious dieting changes for the children(I have 2 boys with autism that I want to put on special diets) and the next thing I know, while at Wally World, he throws 4 boxes of pop tarts in the buggy(which I havent touched) and three boxes of cookies, that I have had a few of but not too many.

I work for Cracker Barrel Restaurant and feel the only time I can eat healthy is when I go to work.
But I will have to put my foot down and make him realize how much energy I will have when I start really shedding some weight. And he will know what the advantage would be for him if I had more energy..
lol.

I understand where you're coming from. My husband still wants his fatty meals while I'm dieting. The solution for me was cooking separate meals. It's more work, but well worth the effort. And my husband likes to point out how fat my body has gotten, but won't do things to help me out (like watching our child so I can exercise). I kind of understand his view on things, like why should he change his lifestyle just to suit me, but...well you know the other flip of the coin.

You can do this, with or without the help of your family. Find ways to motivate yourself, like setting mini-goals or posting pics of your smaller self. And keep lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and water handy for those times when you get tempted.

Best wishes! And read through the threads here at SparkPeople - lots of motivation and info to be found.

And by the way.. don't even think about giving up on yourself! You are worth the struggle even if it means doing it alone.

Ahhh that must be rough! I think you should explain to him it is NOT a diet and he doesn't have to do anything he doesn't want to do, but as a loving mom to your children, you would like to see them all eat healthier as a family.

And tell your husband that you are going to do it with or without his help, without it being much more painful for you.

Don't give up because you aren't getting the support and encouragement you need. Demand it!! It is just like respect.

I am kind of new to the message boards but am looking for help from where I can draw it from. I am about 50 lbs overweight and trying to diet, with no (did I say no?), I meant NO support from my husband. He says I look fine the way I am, but he doesn't see me crying when I look at myself, nor does he know I have no self esteem. I tell my family that I am going to make some better eating choices and do cook alot better for myself and children and husband, but I get the other comment from him...don't put me or the kids on a diet just because you are on a diet! HELP.... I have nearly given up on myself.
