If I weren't thinking of retirement (I'm 54) and currently work with my husband, I'd probably go into a field of diet or exercise and it is so interesting and helpful.
I agree that it is such an eye-opener when a favorite something doesn't fit or we see photos of ourselves. Don't let it discourage you, let it encourage you in your efforts! Jo Ann

| thanks for writing back. Yeah, I think I'm going to be taking polaroids for the "before and after" pics. I'm actually thinking about becoming a dietitian. I've got 2 more years to get my Bachelor's and I'm thinking about double majoring in that and business. This stuff just interest me so much. How bout ya'll?

Pictures!! I have lost some weight over the last couple of years, and started to focus on the amount I'd lost, instead of the amount I have yet to go. My husband and I went on vacation in March, to the Keys, and of course took many picures...WOAH!!! I thought after loosing almost 30 pounds I must look good...oops...those pictures woke me up fast. Now I have one of those pictures on my fridge. I'm proud of what I've done, but I'm not finished!

Well hop right back on...we're all on here! although...we all fall off every now and then I think...
The extra 20 pounds I put on in the past two years have hit me hard continually because I try to throw on older jeans, and I can't even slide them over my thighs. Pictures did me in, too. Comparing how big my face looks now compared to a couple years ago...it's just such a visible difference.

I've done this so many times I'm not sure when the first time I realized it was time to lose this weight. It's been a real struggle and I know how you feel. Just about everyone on the site understands how you feel. If you're new to SparkPeople, I can say that this is a great program. It's the longest I've stayed on a program. That's not to say I haven't had bad days. Just this weekend, I ate an entire bag of jelly beans.
I just wanted to say that any support you need, there will be someone online to help. Good Luck and I hope to see you in the message boards.

| I think I'm going to have to be a regular here. Here's my story. I've been with Sparkpeople for a while and was doing quite well in changing my diet. Just this past month I fell of the wagon HARD. I put on a top I've been able to wear for five years (I'm only 23) and I tried to snap it in the front and it....(this still bothers me to think about) ripped. It actually tore where I tried to hook it. This was the final straw for me, since then, whenever I look at something I know is bad, I just think about that tear in my favorite top and get something else. Now, everyone is gungho when they see that they need to get in shape, so I've decided to get support from my fellow Sparks to keep me on track. Well, I'll be checking in with you all. Anyone else got "first time I realized it was time" stories?
