I'm a maid of honor in May! I can't wait, I would like my arms to look toned in the photos. I'm going to start doing 50 push-ups every morning and night. Hopefully it'll make a difference.

i'm a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding in september - we just tried on some possible dresses yesterday (all options are strapless BUT they are a-line full long skirts which are flattering)

2 months after my wedding last year i was in my brother's wedding and the bm dress was "straight-skirt" style (TOTALLY unflattering) and was in a size too small for me so i felt TOTALLY horrible in it like stuff was all bulging out(grandma said i looked fat!! she's critical)

SO i'm never ordering a bm dress in a questionable size again - i'd rather have to take it in than go through that again!

also don't forget bridal sizes aren't always like normal sizes so don't feel bad if you're a bigger size in bm dress than normal clothes.

the samples i tried on yesterday were 10's- i'll order a 10 or an 8 based on that. the 10s were a little loose (very loose in the bust though). i'd like to try on an 8 in the brand we'll order to be sure.

ARMS!!! ARMS!!! ARMS!!!

That's a huge issue that I think alot of us are struggling with! So here are a few that I do everyother day when working my arms to tighten my triceps, the usual bigger trouble area!

Dumbbell Triceps Kick Backs
Lying Dumbbell Triceps Extensions
Seated Dumbbell Triceps Extensions
Lying Triceps Lifts
Triceps Dips with Bent Knees
Dumbbell Triceps Extensions on Ball

You can find all of these in the Spark Fitness resources. Now you WILL be SORE for the next couple of days after these, but that's when you know it is working!!! I usually am still quite sore when I am doing them in the next workout for arms. But I just get through it and think of the end result... in that dress. Don't forget to keep working your back chest and biceps too, the stronger they are, the more effective these will be. And you also don't want one part to overpower the other.

Thank goodness I don't know alot of the peole who are going to be at this wedding, or I may be stealing the show with my success!!! he..he.. but knowing myself, is what counts!

Hope this helps gals... keep in touch everyone!!!!!

Has anyone found any great exercises to tone up the arms?

Also anyone found any support for the busty gals in a sleeveless dress? I was thinking maybe a strapless bra, but they tend to get aggravating after a while & tend to pop up to make an appearance now & then from what I have seen at other weddings. Maybe double sided tape would help that.

I just can't see me going all day with nothing to support me!

Hi everyone!

Sounds like we all have the same challenges. I'm not so worried about the fit of the dress as much as flabby arms!! I actually am about 7 pounds less now than I was for my own wedding and still have 23 more to go! There is a picture of the dress I'm wearing on my SparkPage...and it will be that beautiful burgundy color! I hope I can pull it off!

Argh! My sister is being a BRIDEZILLA!

Get this she enrolled the whole famliy in the marathon at Disney next January, so that we can all get into shape in time for her Oct 06 wedding! None of us are in great shape & only she is the runner in the family. I never have, nor really wanted to. But I'm giving it a shot because I love her & want to look good, maybe it'll work.

I'm her Maid of Honor & want to look great in the pictures that I know will be around the house for the rest of my life.

She hasn't picked a dress yet, but looks like EVERYTHING is sleeveless.

When I went to get measured last year for my dress, the people at the bridal salon wanted me to order a size 18 and that was extra. I refused and told them to order me a 16. I went to try it on two weeks ago and it is huge. I hadn't really expected myself to lose 37 pounds. I still have 22 more pounds to go but it feels great to know that I won't be the big girl in the weeding.

Now I would not suggest this for anyone!!!! but....

I ordered my dress two sizes smaller than I actually measured! I had to sign a waiver at the bridal boutique and everyting! We choose a dress that was $180, and it is one that is special made when you order it. It takes three months for the orders to be made and delivered. No second chances to order it! So needless to say my husband would KILL me if I did not fit into it! The size requires me to loose four inches in my waist to be able to wear it! Four and a half months away I can do it! At least I'd better be able to do it!

Keep up the work everyone! WE CAN DO IT!!!!!

My sister is getting married sometime next year (date not set in stone yet) so I have a little bit more time but my sis is about 5'10 and naturally weighs around 115 and looks great! I can't stand up there as her matron of honor and towering over her with my flab... that will totally ruin all the pics. Glad I'm not the only one with this problem!

Hi Girls! I am also going to be in a wedding. My sister is getting married July 21st. I'm tired of being the 'big girl' in all the pictures. All her cute little friends are also in the wedding. What kind of exercise and diet are you all doing?

CAITLIEM,

You say that you are hoping to fit into an 8 by the wedding. Im currently a size 22 (formal gown) and I think I'm going to order mine in a 18! I was thinking about a 16, but my hips are always larger than my upper body. I can always alter the top to a smaller size... I hope I am not being to risky by getting the 18 though!

HSMRBAILEY... and anyone else looking for toning the arms!!!!!

OK gals if you don't have a super collection of weights or dumbbells, try resistance bands!!! They are great and you can adjust the resistance or "weight" just by standing on them in different lengths. It's just like adding more weight to a dumbbell. They are convienient and you can take them anywhere... and.... they are cheap, you can usually pick up a set of three at Target or Walmart for only about 15 bucks.... They are a good workout if you use them right...

Challenge yourself!!!!

My mom is also getting married possibly in May, and my sister in law is getting married June 30th. The dresses have been ordered and I would like to make sure my arms are toned for the strapless dress. I may be pregnant by the time of the wedding...but my goal is to be toned in my upperbody so that is the focus not my tummy.

My mom is getting married April 14th, 2007. I am the only one in the bridal party. I have some medical problems. Because of these I gain wieght just in my tummy area. Being the only one up there, I want to look good. My mom is a size 4! Right now I am a size 8 or 9. I'd like to be able to fit back into my 5's.

Candecrazi,

Have you tried Slim in 6 from beach body? It is really good and may be able to help you. If you don't have or can get it I could give you some pointers or something.

Hey gals... If you have a pic of the dress post it in your photo gallery... I'm posting mine right now!
.............
Ok just place your cursor on my "My Sparkpage" and you will see the pic! It will be in dark purple. So yes you can see that I need to loose quite a bit to look anywhere near good in this.

We can do it!!!!!

Well, I am in a wedding on May 19th and I am the maid of honor. I have more pressure on me as I have to walk down the aisle by myself. I have to wear this strapless number with a fitted top. I have lost 19 pounds so far and have 40 more pounds to go. The majority of the bridesmaids and the matron of honor are all small framed people so I have to get myself in shape. I can't wait until I'm able to post a picture from the wedding. That will be exciting.

Oh this is the perfect challenge for me!
I'm gonna be my best friend's maid of honor in June. I'm one of 5 girls in the wedding party. The dress is a two piece, so I'm not really sure size-wise. The last dress I wore (this summer) was a size 11-12 that had to be altered because it was snug when I bought it then gained weight over the next month...that was embarassing. I would love to fit into a size eight by the wedding. Also, being sleeveless, my arms are a concern. I would like them to be more toned and less flabby by that time.

Gena! Thanks for your response, we are going to look so great!!!!

let's see,,,, how about everyone that logs on the the challenge give the dress size that you would like to wear in the wedding... this has to be reasonable though, I don't want anyone trying to make a goal that is unatainable! So what do you think?

I wear a 24 right now and my goal will be 14. That would be five dress sizes in six an ahalf months. I would like to loose 60lbs, but if I am weight training I may not completely loose all of that, but still be able to fit in a 14... so as usual for mw what makes me most happy is how my clothing fits! AKA how the bridesmaid dress will look.

I'm going to post a pic of my dress in my photo gallery, and hope everyone else does to so we can see each others goals! Of course a skinny model will be wearing mine as I am not even going to order mine yet!

So hear we go!!!!!
Hope to hear back from you and everyone else that needs this!

I am in a wedding in Oct and would like to lose weight before then. Just because I want to feel comfortable in the dress and not feel like I look horrible in the pictures. The last couple weddings I have been in I cringe everytime I see the pictures and I want to change that.

What kind of challenge do you think we should launch?

OK girls!!!! I have to wear a sleeveless, fitted to the waist dress in May!!!! I am looking to loose at lest 50 lbs by then and maybe more. This is NOT the reason why I am loosing weight, although it is something that has come up along my journey. So it has kicked my but into high gear. All the other gals in the wedding are sizes 2-10 and look to be in good shape!

What is your wedding delima?
-Date
-dress style
-lbs to loose
-other bridesmaids
-any other details

Let's look HOT!!!!
