Well, yesterday was high, but I'm not going to beat myself up over it. We had to take a friend whose wife was out of town to the emergency room and help him deal with making arrangements for his one-year-old while he was out of commission. After five hours in the ER, we ended up getting a fast food dinner at 1am. Other than that and some life-sustaining dark chocolate, my day wasn't really that bad.

My calorie range this week is 1200-1550 and to burn at least 1500 cardio calories. I am looking to keep my daily calories at about 1350.

10/11- 1,798/419 burned (that's more like it. A little bit over but much better!!!)
10/12- 2,487/0 burned...and the bad week continues

10/14- 3,283/250 burned (chinese food and vodka KILLED my calories for the day)

This week was a bit of a nightmare (and it's still not over! I have company and am planning on lunch AND dinner out today) I will be having a long pep talk with myself today about my week and what I can do to not repeat it and to not let it get me down!
Becky, that's great that you are getting back into running. I really like it but I have been struggling with some really bad shin splints lately and haven't been getting as many miles in as I'd like to. Hhaha I hear you on the booze and fat...that is ALL that is in my system this morning. Let's be different birds of a feather next week..the kind that stay within range!

yeah. I hope everyone has moved on to next week and isn't here to witness this. Just madness. My only consolation is that even with the eating debauchery I've been getting the workouts in. In the past when my eating was crazy, I'd totally give up. At least I'm here and tracking and not totally giving up.

Anne--we seem to be birds of a feather. I'm getting back into running too and have been re-dedicated lately. Despite my 4,000+ day yesterday--which included a huge martini and a half a bottle of wine---I still got up this morning and ran 3.5 miles--and a lot faster than I have been running. I guess I'm best fueled with booze, fat, and sugar. That's great, huh?

Still have guests tomorrow--with brunch out and hosting dinner here--but I'm going in to pre-track right now and start getting back on track. Thank God today wasn't official weigh-in day, b/c it was ABSURD!!

10/9 - 2334 (0) I have a terrible cold which I fed well today :) Actually, it's the darn trail mix. 1/2 cup gave me 392 calories and then I fell into some Hershey's kisses :(

10/12 - 1505 (906) YAY! Finally got to work out! 55 minutes Strength: 302 cals, 61 mins on elliptical: 604 cals.
10/13 - 1716 (0) Work was too crazy to get out at lunch to workout.

Weekly Average - 1770 - Goal is to be under 2000 this week.

First - my total calories eaten would have been lower except that I had to stop at McDonald's for lunch (it was fast food or no food) and I ordered the GRILLED Chicken Sandwich and got CRISPY!! I didn't catch it until we were back on the road and I had taken several bites. We were late already so there was no turning back. I also got a small fry and didn't realize that they are 250 calories so I blew 750 calories just on a sandwich and fries - so NOT worth it!

Calories burned today include..
50 minutes of Strength and Tone for 341 calories
54 minutes of Step class for 574 calories
3 hours and 32 minutes of hiking 6 miles for 1098 calories!!!

Yeah - I am WHOOPED but I am up this late because in 2 minutes I have to install some code for work. I plan on sleeping in tomorrow. :)

Well, I had to up my calories yesterday. We ordered pizza and I ordered a salad on the side but the salad ended up being potato salad and cole slaw and I ate them, without realizing how bad they were. I am glad to start with a clean slate tomorrow. At least I kept up with my exercise.

WOW - Not working out as much as I do made me not so hungry which is really good cause I just focused on eating when hungry. Work has been crazy so I've been too busy to think about eating! This is my lowest week since June - about 4 months ago. :) Of course, with the little exercise I've been doing this is the maintenance range but I'm still sticking right around 132 and that's not too bad.

Thanks for all the support, everyone. I'm trying not to get discouraged and just focus on exercise and moderation. In addition to eating out because a friend was here, now that it's time to get back on track, our stove just broke down! So, we have to eat out this weekend. Also, I am noticing that I really go nuts when I eat out. I am pretty good about not eating junk food at home but lordy, when I go out I want to eat everything in front of me AND dessert. It's pretty nuts. Also, of course, it is SO much harder to calculate calories, especially since all of my restaurant trips have involved us all getting a bunch of things then eating from the center of the table. I have a feeling I may have underestimated. Oh well, without sparkpeople and this board, I wouldn't have at least exercised this week, so that is good. Actually, I overdid that a bit this week. I did 100 squats and lunges (which I don't normally do) and have been barely able to walk the past two days!

I'm going to try not to worry about the scale too much this month but just focus on developing good habits. I say this but it is very hard not to be discouraged when the numbers only go up :(

Kashmir, congrats on your loss! That is great and inspirational.

Becky, we are quite the pair this week aren't we hahaha. I'm going ot try to use this not so good week as motivation for next week. I too have a dinner out planned for not only tonight but tomorrow night as well!! Of course I am planing on eating only a small amount and no dessert but we'll see how it turns out. My only good thing is that this week my shin splints aren't acting up so I have been able to get quite a bit of running in.
I'll report back, I want to be accountable, with the results!

Aww crud. I really thought I might be able to pull it off today. :( But I let myself go at dinner--and ate 3x as much as planned for dessert. My only consolation is the workout I got in.

Another big dinner out planned tomorrow (FIL is taking us to the nicest place in town). We'll see. . . but I DO plan on getting the the gym again this morning.

Whew, Today was very emotional and trying for me. I'm just glad I made it through and can look forward to tomorrow now.
It looks like the president of our company may have talked my co-worker into staying, with the promise of a pay raise to match what the other company offered as well as 4 weeks vacation a year. Unfortunately that puts the rest of us on the spot...she will now be making about $5,000 a year more than the rest of us, and we will receive a 2% raise as we have been told that is all the company could afford this year. Hmmmm....I'll now be working my buns off to find a new job as well as working my buns off.

With work being so crazy and me needing to work evenings at home and then having a cold I did take a rest but it was tough getting back into action today at the gym. Saturday I am doing a 7 mile hike in the Hocking Hills (hilly area of southern Ohio) so that will burn a TON of calories!

Great job Kash!

This has not been a good day - Just busy all around - no time for exercise because of the echocardiogram (which was really interesting!) - and I hardly ever have a day where I don't at least get a walk in! But I kept my calories in the middle of my SP range so we will see on Saturday if the day off did any damage on the scale! Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday!

Use the not so good week (much better then saying bad) to your advantage Anneface, every time your tempted next week to over eat, make bad food choices or not exercise... think about how your feeling this week... then just ask yourself if you want to feel like that again

(in saying that, i haven't gotten off my big bottom this week to do any work outs lol, but my reasoning is i'm letting the bruses, sore muscles and scratches heal after the move last w/e)

I made the mistake of stepping on the scale today after my 4 DAYS of horrible eating and it wasn't pretty. I'm up 4 pounds and feeling HORRIBLE. I'm going to try not to think about it and beat myself up but we'll see. Hopefully next week I'll be on track and make this group/thread proud!

For everyone who's gained... muscle weighs more then fat, muscle weighs more then fat,muscle weighs more then fat!!!!

If your clothes are feeling looser then your loosing 'fat' but getting leaner and meaner

Oh gosh, now I feel guilty about posting this. After yesterday's no exercise and food fest and movie theater popcorn binge, I was actually down a full pound this morning when I hopped on the scale.

JP--If you need a "misery loves company" post. . . I was actually up 4lbs this morning from last Thursday's weigh in!!! But after my workout and, um. . . my guts doing their thing, it was only 2 lbs up, and only 1 from what I recorded as the "official".

Though I've been feeling bad about how I'm doing this week, I AM actually eating right in my maintenance range. I think I'm seeing the blib b/c of last weeks BIG (3,000-4,000) days and all the eating out and less-than-optimal choices that have made up my totals this week. What I'd really like is to lose a few more so I'm hanging out at the bottom of my maintenance range--then have room for the occassional blips.

How's next week looking for everyone?? I'm hoping to be back to "normal" in terms of travel, visitors, etc.

Kris--how are you feeling?? I nearly fell off my chair when I saw your cardio/calories burned this week!!! I've NEVER seen you actually take a real break. Good for you!! I think you needed it!! I hope you're feeling better and just enjoying the reprieve.

I agree, don't let the 2 pound gain get you down. Even though it is hard to believe, the body does fluctuate on a daily basis. I used to weigh myself every couple of days and get SO discouraged at the numbers rising when I would have one bad day. Now I really try to only weigh in once a week at the same time! Keep up the good work.

JP - Honestly - 2 pounds could be caused my water retention. My body can fluctuate as much as 4 pounds in one week due to water and intestinal contents (:) ). 5 pound fluctuations are completely normal without any weight gain from fat. With all the rich food you have been eating I bet it's been loaded with sodium. Do you track your sodium? Make sure you are getting at least 8 glasses of water and I'd pump it up to at least 12 or more if you are generally doing well with water consumption and that will help flush out the sodium and reduce your water retention.

Remember - it takes 3500 calories to make a pound of fat.

Also - you do strength train so it would be that you are adding muscle. Take your measurements and track that. I didn't lose weight for 2 months but I lost inches and that's even better!
