BABELALALA-

Glad you liked the recipe - you really have to try it! I am so into body scrubs, lotions, and really good body washes! I love smelling up the whole bathroom when I take a shower, and the feeling that I smell that good. The scrubs also have a very cleansing effect (hmm, wonder why) so I usually reserve those for bad days and pampering..or really yucky days. I'm off to find the team and sign up..and wl repost that recipe as a new thread.

I'm sure I have an oatmeal scrub recipe around in my collection. Will dig it up for you asap.

my mother was a clutter bug, nothing ever matched nick nacks everywhere, it drove me crazy, i vouwed never to be like that. So i am also not a good person. But i will tell you one thing that i have noticed the less clutter in your life, the better your emotions will be. That counts for weeds in the yard too, the more weeds, the more emotional problems in your life. I have noticed something else, check the room that has the most clutter, that is where you have the most work to do. As you deal with your emotions, taking an honest look at them, and feeling them and then releasing them, the cleaner your house will get. Just something I noticed. My ex husbands messiest room is the bed room, quess what problems he has lol.

How are you doing glencorap, my fridge and freezer are soooooo clean, you were right, there were beans in there that were moldy, watery ugggggg. Even cleaned the kitchen cabinets. Oh found meat and fish that were sitting there for over a year.

Micahann - some people think i am a clean fanatic, so dont let my issues bother you. (of course they never checked my fridge) Welcome to the group. There is lots of suggestions here, do the ones you want and lie about the rest, no i am just kidding.
Good luck to all.

Hi Micahann.

Pleasehelp? I just heard about this book, and thought of you. The person who recommended it was discussing the fact that she is learning to think of her home as a person, and to have a good relationship with that person and treat it well..."a book by Karen Kingston, Clearing Your Clutter with Feng Shui. The nice thing about her book is that she's not heavyinto the Feng Shui with the quadrants, etc. She really discusses the
psychology of clutter, and it was the best thing that I did for myself
when I moved."

Ok, I've been reading this board since yesterday trying to decide if I wanted to do it....I'm in. I am 28 years old and I live in Illinois. I have a 10yr daughter and 7wk old son. I just joined this site yesterday and I am excited to finally attempt [really attempt] reaching my goal. I never lost the baby wieght from my daughter and have always said that it was because I was going to have more kids. Well, I'm done. My son is my last child and I'm ready to reclaim my body for my own! I scared and excited. I drank my hot water this morning and will do the fridge thing this weekend.

Good morning. As I weigh in on Friday for another list, I'll post here too. Did not lose, but it was an excellent week for exericse and other goals, so I'm very happy.

Welcome Pleasehelp...yup, don't get too focused on what the scale says. Just keep thinking about making yourself healthy, in all ways, and your clothes will tell you how its going. (Remember muscle weighs more than fat, too, so if you've just started, or have increased your exercise, that will be part of it. Watch your salt intake too). Decluttering...well, I'm a lean-mean no clutter machine, so maybe not the best person, but, our weekend challenge is to clean out the inside and outside of our fridges. Why not start there? Then, over the week, how about one closet? or that drawer (you know the one LOL). Take is very small. Do not give yourself impossible goals. It is like weight goals -- don't worry about the totals, or the big picture "Take care of the little things, and the big things will take care of themselves."

Amy, what a wonderful story. I feel very much that way about my husband - we met almost 35 years ago, but didn't get together until 1990, and married in 1992. Won't go into some magical times when our paths crossed for a couple of reasons during the intervening years, but I know we were meant to be. May your lives together be long and blessed.

Okay: I have a personal goal to lose 5 lbs in two weeks, before friends come to visit. That noise you'll be hearing will be me huffing and puffing away at my cardio. Think I will also do a two-day soup cleansing next week.

Back later, a grand day to all.

I would love to join the X-mas boot camp, I have the motivation, have been working out religiously for 2-3 months, but now joined sp, and am kicking it up to include 5-6 x cardio and 4 x strength, and including the diet, trying to limit the after work beer or wine and the snack empty calories. I am ready; I am losing this weight once and for all!!!

How does it work, do we have a weekly weigh-in?

You sound like you fit right in. Welcome. I suggested that everyone uses a notebook to right down the suggestions and apply as many as you can when you can. The more you put in, the more you get out. please start by being honest with yourself, and write your story for your eyes only, keep adding to it as you think of things. Then go over the thread and see what you can apply. Please ask quesitons, make suggestions etc. Welcome

Hi Everyone,

I just came across this challenge and would like to join. I have been going to curves, cutting back what I eat and drink over 100 oz of water every day. Gave up diet soda but still not losing weight. Have read every one of the posts and this sounds like a very interesting group of people that could help me. I will tell you that I teach preschool, go to college, have 4 grandchildren, husband that loves to eat and with all that I am a habitual clutter bug. I have stuff that is needed for everything or at least in my mind. So is there anyway I can change I am so tired of being tired and cluttered. Let me know if I can join this challenge?

Hi Amy,

I read your post and even though you don't have but 10 lbs to lose sometimes you need the help just as much as I would having to lose 95 lbs. The object is the support to get healthy in mind body and spirit.

Hey that sounds good I need to listen to it myself. HAHA

the fridge is clean puff puff. Going to tackle the freezer next. You were right there was stuff molding in there, ugh, jams that had crystalized, and jars opened a year ago and never used thereafter. The Maytag boy is clean and ready to please.

What an spiritual experience. I think you were truly blessed that day. Life has many paths, sounds like you took the right one. Congradulations.
According to spirituality we pick our destiny, we preplan our physical life, for our souls growth. The priest you met I believe was a messenger to let you know you are on the right path. Life is a learning experience, we are on earth to learn. Everyday, every person you meet, every experience you have there is something to learn. Life purpose is to LOVE, to give, receive and be love. It sounds like you found yours. Congradulations again. You will have a wonderful life, go follow your path and learn your lessons.

I completed the liquid fast yesterday! I did have a little vegetable that snuck in when I was trying to eat the soup at lunch but mostly liquid. I recommend it to everyone. You don't feel hungry because you can still eat. I feel lighter and healthier today.

I have been keeping up with the hot water. 5 glasses a day. I still drink cold water too but less of it. I will get to the mind expansion exercises today!

The weekend challenge is great! I REALLY need to clean out my fridge and I keep putting it off. I will do it this weekend and restock.

I love the Goddess on the outside idea. I will be making coffee at home and putting that money aside for December (close to $10 a week).

My Goddess name will be Nuada, a Celtic goddess of beauty. I thought this was appropriate for this challenge. I am very Irish so this name is perfect for me!

As for the things that make us feel good, I would like to tell you about a specific experience. I got married in June. We had an outdoor wedding so it was non-religious. It was perfect for us though. We honeymooned in Ireland the end of July into August. During the second week of our trip, someone told us about these beautiful rose gardens, right near where we were staying. We decided to take a walk and see them. They were amazing. Deeper in the rose gardens was a sculpture garden, with things representing the elements. Behind this was a church. So we were walking through the gardens and we saw a very old priest. He stopped us and said hello. He asked us if we were married and we said yes. He proceeded to tell us about a plan for life he had come up with and taught throughout the years to young couple's in pre-cana. The basic idea was that throughout life you are traveling parrallel to the person you are meant to be with and your paths will cross and you will spend time together. When one dies, you may be separate for awhile but you will meet again in heaven. The middle line on this was God. Then he offered a blessing on our marriage. We did not know this priest and he didn't know anything about us. That really opened my heart! And does everytime I think about it.

Happy Friday!

Manipulation - Manipulators Among Us.

Manipulation is a form of abuse. It is used to get us to do thing unconsciously. A form of being controlled. Are you a caretaker, always taking care of others needs. running around like a chicken with its head cut of trying to do everything. Do you find yourself doing things that you didnt really have time to do, or energy to do. Do you find yourself with your own shores undone because you were doing things for others. Bringing so and so somewhere even though you had other things to do.
Just doing, doing and doing, things for others. Well we are going to learn to take back our power, to learn boundaries and set limits. We are going to take care of No. l, ourselves. Manipulation is a form of abuse, even though it is done so often so quitely. We get conned into doing things and if we dont we are made to feel guilty. They (the manipulators) will get mad at us, because we are going to learn to stop them from victimizing us. Todays lesson is very important girls. Become AWARE! Listen to people, and HEAR what they are saying. "But i didnt ask you to do it" classic example of what the abuser will say if you try to stand up for yourself. It is time to take back your POWER. I found a fantastic site on the internet that will help you see it. Go onto Google and type in manipulation then go to the second article, called Manipulation and please read it. Manipulation - what irration thinking leads to ......
Tools for handling control issues
Eliminating control
Please girls if you dont have time today, then as soon as you can read this and learn to apply it in your life. Get rid of the TOXIC people that hurt us, and take away our power. and dont feel guilty doing it, its not our guilt! And become AWARE of your thinking "yes but i dont mind" become aware of those YES, BUTs. We have been brainwashed into thinking we dont care that it is our job. No our job is to take care of ourselves, and as long as we are giving away our power, we are giving away of our "Self Love", it is time we start loving ourselves again girls. It is not our responsibility to take care of others. We are responsible for ourselves, as others are responsible for themselves.

Take time to reflect on this, look back in your life and become aware of times that you let this happen.
As long as you let this happen, you enable the abuser to abuse you. Put a stop to abuse. Take back your power.

Well as we are coming to the end of week 1, i would like you to read over your notes, and see what changes you made this week, and see if there any other of the suggestions i have given you can apply or if you have any suggestion you would like to share. How did you do this week, was it hard or did you have fun. How do you feel, do you think this is working for you. This weekend try to take care of yourself as weekends are usually rough for alot of people to stick to their program exercise and watching what they eat. Dont work so hard during the week to loose 1 or 2 lbs. and then gain it back on the weekend. Plan today for some low calorie meal for you and the family. I find weight watchers has some good receipies for french fries, or soups or even deserts. If anyone has any please post them.
I know french fries, but potato in wedges, rub some olive oil a little bit of sea salt/pepper and put them on baking sheet in oven for 20 minutes. Beats the greasy kind from the stores.
How about a nice cesear salad with roasted chicken.
Pop corn as a snack, a healthy fruit salad. Did anyone try the liquid day yet?

Todays mind expander is learning about bonsai: There is a fantastic site on google that teaches you all about bonsai, you might even want to try it with a jade plant, becareful though branches are very soft.

For your information: According to Ayurvedic Medicine, the ancient chineese medicine from over 4000 years ago. The hours of 10 to 2 is the time during the day that your metabolism is at its peak. The main course during the day should be eaten during this time. For breakfast you should eat very very lightly so that you are really hungry at lunch time when your metabolism is at its peak, and then a light supper when your metabolism starts slowing down for the evening. They claim that you can loose weight naturally by just switching to eating like this.

Todays project - give yourself a beauty make over during the day, do your nails, facial, foot scrub, dry body scrub before bath, and a nice bubble bath with candles. Clean your house before the weekend, and enjoy the weekend with some fresh air.

This afternoon I will write a little article about manipulation. "manipulator among us".

This is about taking care of ourselves now girls. Because we are worth it.

What are your plans this weekend. How have you been doing. Careful of the weekend, this is the time we all back lash. Be AWARE and take care.

i will give your receipy a try. When i was younger i did more of the home made stuff, maybe ill give it a try again. Like putting egg on face as a mask, use the egg white. Put the yellow on hair. Or pour beer on hair, or as a conditioner put mayonnaise on hair (probably for the egg) let sit for a little bit, then wash. Chamolmile tea rinse. How about a rest with cucumber slices on eyes, or tea bags. Anybody else got some homemade receipies. I know there is a oatmeal scrub receipy, but i dont remember the receipy besides oatmeal, does anyone know about this.

Hi There-

I was convinced to give this try...so here I am. I really do want to lose the extra weight I have! I have a bet going (that I'm working on losing! :( ). I need to have 25# off by 10/24, then keep it off for 6 mos. I feel confident I have learned enough to continue losing after (or most definitely keep it off) but am having a issue getting motivated to lose the rest of it - or as much as possible by the goal date.

Tomorrow is a rough day for me as I work both jobs ( day job and bartend), but I will try the hot water tomorrow. I did the pampering tonight - I found a really great recipe for a copycat of an expensive body scrub. Hope it's ok if I share..

1/2c brown sugar
1/4c olive oil
2tsp vanilla

Mix together, put in clean glass jar container with a lid. scoop out and smooth over body in shower. Feels great and smells wonderful!

Gurly gurl, you have me abit worried, your goal is to be 98 lbs., how tall are you. Sometimes the belly protrudes and there is nothing much to do about it, going down to 98 lbs might just not be healthy. I am not judging you i hope you know that, but i want to make sure you are doing healthy choices with your life.
