Sunday - 1666 Monday - 2728 Tuesday - 1586 Wednesday - 1671 Thursday - 1583 Friday - 1654 Saturday - didn't count
I'm pretty sure I was a bit over today, but I was in a situation where I was eating a bit of this and that and all food I didn't prepare, so it was difficult to count. I know I made some good decisions (soup and a chunk of french bread for lunch, a reasonable-sized serving of dinner casserole) and some bad ones (gummy bears, a brownie before bed) but my instinct is that I was probably a bit over.
Average (without Saturday) - 1815
A bit high, but another week starts tomorrow!

I took measurements today, down 1/2 inch on my waist and my hips, down almost 3/4 inch on my thighs, and down 1/4 inch on my neck....all accomplished since 8/29. I'm definately OKAY with my weight staying the same all week, since I have visible change instead.

Jenn - way to go with the brownies! Kashmir - I can help you break that 1500 mark - LOL!! I have some flax seed cookies (Voortman's) that are really good and 80 calories each. Just one would have done it. Or, eat a few nuts, one ounce is a good 170-180 cals and have LOADS of great monounsaturated fats. Amanda - you had a great week! Becky - I bet that the pregnancy hormones are indeed causing the weight to not go. Your body is thinking it needs that fat. Plus, with your strength training that 1/2 pound gain could very well be extra muscle. Did you ever take your measurements? And finally, on the ankle - is it in the achilles? Make sure you stretch it to help it heal and new shoes might indeed be needed. Jo - way to go on finding a good breakfast. Since my calories have been upped I did 2 packets of oatmeal and that kept me full a long time. Today, a big multi grain bagel and fat free cream cheese got me through 2 hours of working out. Eating a filling breakfast is the key to controlling what you eat the rest of the day.
OK, off to change then start on the yard work!

Another high day, but again, not totally unintentional. Trying to get back to my old "calorie cycling". You'll see that I actually GAINED a half a pound since last week. Sigh. I'm staying in range over the average of the week and I'm exercising consistently. I know I need to just stay the course. I learned today that my body still thinks it's pregnant. Uggh. This saga never ends. I still have pregnancy hormone in my body and will need to take some drugs to help things return to normal. Maybe that explains some of the weight sticking on. . .??
I also have some kind of tendinitis or something going on in my ankle. It's REALLY hurting. I'm bummed that it might impact my running that I started 3 weeks ago. I'm going to try getting some new running shoes (at a good store with a gait assessment) and if that doesn't work I'll got to a physical therapist. But I'm sure I can still handle the elliptical if all else fails.
Sorry for my whining. Thanks for indulging me. Have a good weekend everyone!

I do a variety of different types of cardio. Every morning (for the last 1.5 months and at least thru next week) I get up around 5'ish and bike for 30-45 minutes at about 15 mph. On Sunday's I try to do 60 minutes. I also count as cardio my gardening and mowing the grass. The gardening has to be more than just putzing around though or else I don't count it.
In addition, I go to the YMCA 3 days a week (next week it will be 4-5). I take a strength class that is the same as circuit training 3 days a week (2 nights and on Sat. am). On Saturday (and starting next week Monday and alternating Sundays) I do a step class for 55 minutes. 3 of the days that I am at the Y I also do the elliptical for 45-60 minutes.
Because the weather is getting cooler and it's so dark at 5:30 in the morning I am going to be swapping out my biking for something else. I am planning on doing Power Yoga, which for me, will burn 420 calories per hour for 60 minutes which is the same as biking 42 minutes. I will also get the benefits of the stretching from the yoga. :)
I tried running but I have plantar fasciitis that won't go away so now I am stuck doing aerobics, elliptical and biking.
My calorie burn will also go down in the winter time when I can't garden and mow the grass so it will probably go down to about 5000 a week if I keep all the stuff going that I do now.
Now, I started SP 9 months ago and back then I was burning about 3000 calories a week and have worked up to this number and have averaged around 6200+ calories a month for the last 3 months so it takes time to get to that number, plus it's inflated with the outside work I do too.
Hope that helps.

Like a dork I left my laptop at work and my spreadsheet with all my tracking is on this machine so I couldn't post last night! DOH!
My calorie range this week is between 2360 and 2710 to maintain my weight with 6900** cardio calories. ** This might explain why I eat so darn much but if I really want to I might be able to get to 8000 calories burned this week if I do some extra (and much needed) gardening tomorrow such as mulching and digging a couple of new flower beds :) Sunday I need to turn the soil in the veggie garden where the plants are done and weeds are starting to take over!

High today, but not unplanned. A football party tonight. But I'm just amazed that the plain hamburger and 2 measured servings of tortilla chips and salsa immediately boosted my total from 1050 to 1915. Scary, huh? Good thing the food wasn't better or I really would have been in trouble!!
Good girl JO!! Breakfast is a good thing. I think part of my current "stall" is due to my lower cal breakfast. I'm going to switch back to my higher cal cereal to boost my metabolism first thing in the morning.

Anne - click on the "My Home" tab at the top and at the top of the page click on "Change Diet Goals." In there make sure that you have the date correct for the end date - when you hope to dear goodness you're done (mine is forever going into the future it seems like). What I do is click on the "Enter target weight, find out how long it will take" box about half way down the page. A pop up comes up and you put in your current weight - if it's not already there - and how many pounds per week you want to lose then click Calculate and close. This will give you an end date and the rate of weight loss. If you haven't updated this in a while and let's say you had it at 1 pound loss but you are really close to the date and haven't lost that it skews your rane and will drop you to a 2 pound loss. Now, if you're already at 2 pounds a week then you have nothing to worry about - but it may drop you to the 1200-1550 even if you should be higher - I haven't played with that recently, I just remember that I always needed to update the end date so that the range would be accurate.
OK - whew - after that you click on continue then click on continue again.
Now you are at the Activity Level screen. Scroll down a bit and you'll see "4) If you know how many calories you burn each week, enter it here:" Enter your number here - leave everything else alone - this will override any calculation that it does based on time and # of days.
Click on continue and finish up accepting everything.
Since my calories burned changes every week, sometimes midweek, I'm always playing with the range.
Let me know if you have any questions! Good luck!

Well, I guess I have my answer. I eased off on the exercise this week (only 30 minutes most days with some 60 minute sessions and took a day off) but stuck to my range and I lost 2 lbs for the first time in months!
I want to exercise more so I guess I'll up my caloric range and go for it!

Hi Anne! Welcome!! Yes--you're probably right about your range. I'm suspecting the same myself. Last year when I had only 10lbs to lose (and I started in my "ideal" range) I lost quickly eating 1500cal/day and I really wasn't exercising much. Now, the weight has creeped up and I'm eating in the same range but exercising a lot more and the scale isn't moving. I think it may be b/c I'm not eating enough . . .
Even if you don't officially change your range, I would at LEAST eat at the top of it. But if you're just starting your weight loss journey, why not give a higher range a try. I bet you'll still lose--and then you'll have room to decrease later if weight loss slows as you get closer to range.
Good luck!
Becky
