WEEKEND CHALLENGE - JULY 22 & 23:

1. Stay within your calorie range and drink a min of 8 glasses of water. Done today, but not so much yesterday.

2. Write down what you eat this weekend. Everything. Done.

3. Get a cardio session in but make sure it's a fun one. walking around NYC is always fun for me.

4. Get outdoors with a friend, or family member. Go for a walk and enjoy yourselves. Hung out outside for a while with my old professor. Saturday and Sunday aren't really my weekends (I have Weds and Thurs. off), so I make sure I get a great walk in with my bf on my days off.

5. Get something done that you've been meaning to do but havn't got around to all week. Got some long overdue stuff done at work.

5. Get something done that you've been meaning to do but havn't got around to all week. *DONE GOT BILLS PAID AND GOT SOME NEW CLOTHES FOR THE BABY.

It's been awhile since I've received a star so I am very excited. Pray I stay on track, especially on dh's days off.

4. Get outdoors with a friend, or family member. Go for a walk and enjoy yourselves. *DONE WENT TO SON'S BALL TOURNAMENT SATURDAY AND HUNG OUT WITH THE PARENTS WHILE THE kids PLAYED IN THAT 98 DEGREE HEAT

5. Get something done that you've been meaning to do but havn't got around to all week. *DONE GOT BILLS PAID AND CLEANED DRESSER.

FF- means french fries. Big no no.I have done good this week, i stay in the front of the store to keep from picking . MY WEEKEND CHALLENGE STARTED OUT GOOD FOR SATURDAY, DID 1 HOUR OF CARDIO, 140 OUNCES OF WATER, CLEANED MY ROOM FROM TOP TO BOTTOM, GOT OUTSIDE WITH THE FAMILY, ENJOYED THE BREEZE. STAYED ON THE LOW END OF MY CALORIES.

SUNDAY ON THE OTHER HAND; HAD TO WORK ALL DAY; ATE ALL THE WRONG THINGS, WENT OVER MY CAL RANGE, NO EXERCISE. BUT DID GIVE MYSELF A PAT ON THE BACK FOR THE EFFORT!!!

Letterboxing combines walking or hiking with a treasure hunt. Check it out at http://www.letterboxing.org/index.php . I took my boys (4,6 & 11) and we found three today and planted one.

Good evening everyone,

We're back from camping, what a great weekend we had!!!

Thanks to everyone for your tips from Friday's challlenge. I'll look up some of those sites and books, the recipes look great too!!

Because it's pretty late in the month and you're new to the group, I've started you off with 3 stars. (a bonus!) I can't imagine the struggle you're going through right now, I hope it all works out for you.

Ginger, sounds as though you're going through a difficult period right now. I've been thinking of you!! I'm sure your grandpa is very thankful for you being there with him. Take care of yourself!

CHALLENGE FOR MONDAY JULY 24

1. Stay within your calorie range and drink a min. of 8 glasses of water.

2.
Dips on Chair or Step, Legs Straight (upper body) - 3 sets of 10 to 15 reps

Reverse Plank (upper body) - hold for min of 30 seconds (can you do more?)

Push-ups or Modified Push-ups (upper body) - do more than you did last Monday

Dumbbell crunches (core) - 3 sets of 15

3. Only fruits or veggies for snacks today.

4. Is it your cardio day? Change it up with a different machine today, or if you're walking, a different route. Variety is key.

4. Get outdoors with a friend, or family member. Go for a walk and enjoy yourselves. *DONE (went to the big boat and spent the night and got to see friends we haven't seen in awhile)

5. Get something done that you've been meaning to do but havn't got around to all week. *DONE (the bills are paid for another two weeks! lol)

I've been sick since Friday so I haven't really been doing much. Can't keep any food down and I'm sore all over. Yay for being sick! Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I've got the flu, but atleast my temperature is down below a hundred this morning.

I've lost a pound since Friday. Two more pounds to go. WE CAN DO THIS!

Reporting for Saturday, July 22 - I met my weekend challenge!

I didn't do as well as hoped, but at least i met a goal
1. I didn't stay within my calorie range, but did drink a min. of 8 glasses of water
2. I did write down everything I ate today
3. I didn't do cardio, but i did do 100 sit-ups
4. I did get outdoors today with my fiance. It was sure hot out there
5. Today I did meet with my brother for a movie which we haven't done in a couple years

xiomi, i'm so sorry to hear you are going through such a difficult time. I am also going through a difficult time. . .to make it short and sweet, basically my parents are trying to have my child taken away from me because they don't like my boyfriend and are trying everything (including trying to put my bf in jail for no reason) to accomplish this. . . but i have lots of people praying for me and i strongly believe in prayer. . . i will also put you in my prayers

Reporting for Saturday, July 22 - I met my weekend challenge!

1. I stayed within my calorie range and drank a min. of 8 glasses of water
2. I wrote down everything I ate today
3. I went running this morning: I love it so it's always fun!
4. I did get outdoors today and took a long walk
5. Today I did some heavy cleaning in the kitchen! Something I wanted to do for a long time... (I'm a little ashamed to say that it's sort of my "late Spring cleaning"...)

Ginger, it's really sad for your grandpa, but it's nice to see that you still come here and share this with us, your 'virtual friends'. I hope it makes you feel better. I also sincerely hope everything goes well for him.

Friday weigh in-203 I'm up 1 lb. It's so hard not to get discouraged but I must stick with it. I am not sure how but I have to do it.

This weekends challenge I didn't meet for Sat. I did everything excetp for my cal. I'll be trying again tomorrow.

Ginger I'm praying for you and your family. Spend as much time with him and remember to be happy now with him too.

Ginger, hope your grandfather gets better. I'm praying for him.

For me, don't know why, had a horrible breakdown today. I'm not feeling very good, emotionally speaking. I think is because those days of the month. But this time is much harder to get over it. When I'm this way, my ex-boyfriend always told me I became kind of "touchy", wich means I get too sensitive and get everything personally. I'm in the middle of a situation with him that I need to take out but don't know how and I need to. The next 3 days looks like are going to be pretty hard for me.

Keep working and we'll see the results.

drank 11 today at the hospital, no cardio. I did walk for 60 minutes around with my aunt if that counts...?

I've written everything down and have been strong for my poppy. I won't lose this fight...

I even wrote down the 5 margaritas tonight...lol

CHALLENGE FOR FRIDAY JULY 21:

1. Stay within your calorie range and drink a min. of 8 glasses of water. YEP.

2. Share something with the group. This could be a favourite (good-for-you) recipe, a favourite website, a quote, a book you really enjoy, an exercise tip...anything, your choice. THE BEST WAY TO PEEL garlic IS TO PUT IN THE MICROWAVE FOR 5-10 SECONDS.

3. crunches - 100 min - your choice.
Bridge-ups - 3 sets of 15
Lying two leg lifts - 3 sets of 8
Walking Lunges 3 sets of 20 (meaning you'll do 10 each time on each leg) NOPE.

4. Give yourself a pat on the back for sticking with this for three weeks! You're awesome! HARDER & HARDER!

5. Read this list for great ideas on what super foods are good for you. Try to eat at least one food listed from each of the 6 categories today.

Onions
Spinach
Tomatoes
Berries, any kind
Fresh fish, unbreaded
Oatmeal
Dark (not milk) chocolate

Dairy - NOPE (LACTOSE INTOLERANT). MADE EVERYTHING ELSE.

Hi, my name is Melody. I've only been on spark for 1 month and love it. I weighed 193 pounds at the beginning of july and am 189 pounds now, so I have lost 4 pounds so far. I feel confident that I can still lose 3 pounds by the end of the month

hello everyone!

I've been sooo busy I haven't been able to log on. I was over my cal. since Mon. so I'm sure I wouldn't have met any of the challenges. BUT today!!!!!!!!!! I stayed with in my cal. range. The bottom of it too
Unfortunately I didn't read the challenge until tonight and didn't complete the rest of it. It makes me motivated for tomorrow!

Have to wait until tomorrow to weigh in! Everyone have a great night and weekend.

CHALLENGE FOR FRIDAY JULY 21:

1. Stay within your calorie range and drink a min. of 8 glasses of water. Done!

2. If you are a vegetarian or interested in non-meat meals, tempeh is really a superfood: high in fiber, iron, and protein. Here is my latest way of cooking it. SOOOO tasty.

1 pkg tempeh (I used 3-grain) sliced
.5 lb fresh baby bok choy
2 portobello mushroom caps sliced
4 Tbl. reduced sodium soy sauce
2 Tbl. rice vinegar
1. Tbl. sugar
Garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes to taste

with non-stick cooking spray, saute bok choy and mushrooms until softened. Stir in remaining ingredients, cover pan and let cook for 7-10 minutes. Serves 2.

The mushrooms and spices create an amazing sauce that complements the tempeh very well! This would go well over brown rice too.

Walking Lunges done

4. Give yourself a pat on the back for sticking with this for three weeks! You're awesome!

The past week barely counts as sticking with it, but I am glad that I am still motivated and I haven't just given up and moved on!

5. Done! Had carrots, peanut butter, cantaloupe, whole wheat bread and cereal, some %1 milk (just a touch though, I've really just been having soy milk lately), and green tea.


6... No loss, no gain. I am still at 5lbs for the month, so hopefully I can still make it.
