Well ladies this will be my last post before I leave for Denver. I leave at 10 tomorrow morning. I will meet the parents in Oakley at around 11:30 or so. Daddy will take over the driving from there. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. I will be looking forward to getting mail while I am out there. Thanks in advance. I won't have computer acess so I will talk to everyone when I get back. I have already stopped some of my meds and will stop more of them tomorrow. I have already noticed a difference in my peak flows. Thank goodness I will be where I can get help if I need it!!!!! Well better close for now. Thanks to all of you who offered congrats on my son. He had really lost some of his competetive edge so we were pleasantly surprised when he won yesterday!!!! Also very happy with his placing overall. Gotta go. Keep the faith while I am gone and lose, lose, lose!!!! See you all in a week or so.

Heidi,

Yes blueberries what a great idea! I guess you can substitute any fruit really. I thought about bananas but they are a little too sweet for me along with the pudding. Let me know when you do try it with the blueberries.

It's not cool here. It's HOT and it's raining and we may get our first tropical storm of the season.

Despite that, and the fact that it's Sunday, which always reminds me of Monday and the coming work week and is kind of a bummer, in order to keep myself in an up mood, I have decided on a theme song, which I will listen to whenever I start to feel overwhelmed. What's the song? Can't you guess?

I get knocked down, but I get up again, 'cause you're never gonna keep me down;

Helen- I like your snack idea, except I hate strawberries but that gave me the idea to substitute blueberries!

Barb- I love the new pic. of your granddaughters. The black and white gives a really special effect. Makes it very special.

Becky- Congrats. to your son! We have been having alot of thunder and lightening here too.

Debbie- I hope you have a good day of rest today, and don't have to think about work.

Have a great day everyone!

Congrats to your son, Becky! Sorry you had to unplug your computer. It looks like it will be storming today here. Do you have a UPS(Uniterruptable Power Source)? I got two on sale at Office Depot, one for my computer and one for my Mom. We had some before, but their batteries need to be replaced, and once I do that I'm going to take them to work, because I don't want to lose my computer at work again.

They are really helpful and can save you a lot of money and aggravation.

I have really been craving Peanut Butter lately -- Peanut Butter on apples, Peanut Butter on bananas, and just Peanut Butter out of the jar. I wonder what's up with that?

Good Evening Ladies!!!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend so far. I just finished exercising and I had a really great cardio workout in plus strength training. I feel great and I feel energized. I also managed to stay within my calorie range today.

I have a fabulous snack or dessert idea for you ladies and thought I would share with you. I had a half cup of vanilla pudding with half cup of fresh strawberries mixed in it. It is so delicious! Plus it doesn't take much of your calories away. :) If you all have great snack recipes or eat certain snacks all the time please share them. I would love to get some ideas and perhaps work it in my menu. :)

Happy Saturday, everyone! QOTD - No vacations this year, not real ones, anyway, just mini ones over long weekends.

My daughter brought her dog over last night, because I said on her birthday I would take him to the vet for his yearly checkup and shots. Of course, she brought him over with no collar and no leash and no food, and she was in a hurry on her way to work, so I put him in the back yard and then went to the store, picked up a collar and some food for his breakfast and a chew bone, and then I pulled out an old leash I had left over from when she and the dog lived here, and I took him on a 40 minute walk. walking a miniature Pinscher is quite a workout, belive me.

Then I got up this morning and took him for another 30 minute walk before I took him to the vet. He's healthy, and got all his shots--the vet said he just needs to go to obedience school, but that's my daughter's responsibility, not mine. He's generally a good dog, but he walks the person on the other side of the leash, not vice versa, and he kind of had a temper tantrum at the vet when the vet wouldn't let him be the "Alpha male", so they had to put a muzzle on him and calm him down before he could examine him completely. He didn't get violent, or anything, he just started flipping around and struggling to get away. I think he just got scared, and was acting out, but the vet gave me a big long spiel on teaching the dog who is boss. I'm a cat person, with a "live and let live" attitude, so I don't really like that "who's boss" game.

I told my daughter what he said, but I don't think she's much on the enforcing obedience thing, either. We'll see. He's well behaved most of the time, just doesn't like a bunch of people holding him and touching him all at once, and who can blame him? And actually, he's improved in the walking department quite a bit, he's just really hyper--bouncing up and down like a rubber ball, and flipping over on his back whenever you try to put a leash on him. I wish I had that kind of energy. I'm totally exhausted.

Heidi - I know you are right about the tapes - I am going to stop making excuses and do them during the week and walk outside when it is nice on the weekend - I got my 3.6 miles in this morning. You have a great weekend too.

Went and bought some tomato and pepper and zucchini plants for the garden today - can't wait unil they produce veggies.

Hi Helen - I have tendonitis in my shoulder, but I think I will be done with therapy in 2 weeks - it is getting better. Thanks. As far as the sweets go - I love those no sugar added fugdgcicles - but I did a big no no last week and bought klondike bars (supposely for my family) and I have done a really poor job of staying away from them. So it is really amazing that I didn't gain this week - but I am goin to go to the store and stock up on the fudgecicles - thanks for reminding me about them.

Don't worry I will be here and we will be here for each other through our struggles. It's not an easy job but having the support of this group makes it easier. :) We will reach our goals and we'll be here til the end.

Helen- I did dance a few dances with hubby at the party, it was fun, I haven't danced in a few years because we haven't been to any parties like that recently. Maybe we should dance for no reason at home.lol
Thanks for your support, I am relieved that I was good with my food this week.
I am so happy you are back with us. I need you here to stick with us, because you are a great inspiration!

Barb - I think it's a great idea to start using the Leslie Sansone tapes again. You have a really hectic schedule during the week, and now that you are watching Emily after work, it makes alot of sense to use the tapes even though it is nice outside. I still use my treadmill when it is nice out if I don't want to walk outside because it is easier for me.
I have cut my sugar down tremendously, although not completely, and I do notice I don't crave sweets like I used to. When I start to eat them again, I crave them more.
Have a great weekend!

Barb,

I hear ya with the sweets. I usually try to eat fudgesicles or frozen fruitsicles when I have those sugar cravings. I am a big fan of chocolate and sometimes I just have to have it. At least thats what my brain is telling me. But really once I have a little frozen treat about 60 calories a pop I am satisfied. Give it a try and see if it works for you.

What happened to your shoulder? Hope it feels better. I'm proud of you for finding another option for getting your exercise in. I have one of Leslie's DVD's and love it! :) The DVD I have is the one where she's working out while is "thundering" outside. lol

Heidi,

I'm sorry you didn't get much exercise like you planned but you did not gained and you lost 1 lb!!! That is still great and you will do great next week. :) I know you can! You could have chosen to eat whatever you wanted because you had guests but you didn't and you should be proud of that. So I am proud of you for sticking with it and getting what you can in with your routine. Keep up the great work you have been doing!

Good Morning Ladies - Heidi welcome back - we have missed you!

I am sitting here relaxing with my morning cup of coffee and getting ready to go for my 3.6 mile walk. I have no problem sticking to it on the weekend - I just get up very early in the morning as I usually do and get out and walk before anyone is out of bed, but during the week I get up at 5:00 a.m. just to get to work at 7:00 and then I have been going to therapy for my shoulder three times a week, so by the time I am done and get dinner ready I usually don't feel like doing it or its raining....or I make some excuse. I really need to kick it in gear. I challenged myself to walk 75 mile in the month of June and so far I have in 9.6 miles - I really drop the ball and didn't walk at all Mon thru Friday...my daughter started working nights so now I have Emily pretty much right after I get home from working and I know she isn't up to walking 3.6 miles and I am not sure if she would be willing to sit in the stroller, besides which I'm not sure I can push her with my arm. I think I am going to force myself to start doing my Leslie Sansone's walk away the pounds DVD's again. When it is nice I really enjoy
