ANDI06- What are sugar snap peas? I don't think I've ever heard of them! Are they in the veggie section? I'll have to give them a try if they're tasty!

That's the problem- EVERYTHING is tempting! I try to give myself just a little bit but it never seems to work. I have been pretty good this week though (other than the cookie yesterday...). Last night did 40 minutes on the eliptical and 30 minutes strength/abs. My calorie count was pretty good, but that cookie did put me over the top (maybe I should take the hint and NOT EAT JUNK FOOD!).

I was going to get up for a run this morning but it just didn't happen. Too rainy and cold to motivate myself. I can't get to the gym tonight because I have a dinner date, but I will try and do at least some sit ups or something when I get home tonight.

Weigh in was last night- down 1 pound since last week. Not great, but I guess it's better than being up one pound!

I do want to say that I found myself thinking about all of you last night as I was deciding what to eat for dinner. I thought "I have to be good or else I'll have to confess my sins to everyone tomorrow!" And it really worked. So thanks everyone!!

McZetty, what if you allow yourself I candy per day? So you won't have all day long in mind that you can't eat candies and so you'll even more crave for them (what is forbiden, is the most tempatious)?

purplerain, *big hugs*. i'm sorry. it must be tough. how was the first day?

nicole, you did excellently last week with weight loss and it's only to be expected that you would gain a little of it back while your body adjusts. on another board someone mentioned how incorporating maintenance during the weight loss not just once you've reached the target weight it important, and i've found this to be the case too. when i get any weight loss i try just to keep it steady for a few days before i carry on losing, this time seems to be important for my body to adjust and allow me to carry on losing weight, instead of being shocked with a "what?!! LOSS! MUST RECTIFY THAT!" sort of reaction. don't be disheartened, you're doing excellently by the sounds of it!

laura, all my fingers and toes are now crossed! what about some calorie rich healthy nuts? ooh, or something like whole wheat muffins, generally good calories and easy to build up to your calorie limit. MMMMMMMuffins. jeez. I'm such a junk food addict! the weird (great) thing is, is i haven't been craving them lately, but i want them when i see them! (just SAY NO!) :D

There are some sugar free life savers that I absolutely love and sugar free twizzlers. Yes, I know not natural, but yummy nonetheless. Andi - I love sugar snap peas too. They are so sweet and juicy and good. I like to put them in spinach salads with some grilled chicken and parmesian and fat free ranch.

I am going to be heading to bed. I thought I would come on and post my day.

Calories - under 1500, but I need to get that down to under 1350.
Exercise - 1 hour cardio and 30 minutes strength
Veg/Fruit - One.

For my first day, not bad.
Thanks all!

I hear you! I am also guilty of that habit.

I'm at home all day, so it's really hard to stay out of the fridge. When it gets really bad, I chew gum. Another veggie I love to munch on is sugar snap peas. They are so yummy and the crunch is satisfying. I can eat them like candy - and my kids love them, too! Plus I found them in the ready-to-eat veggies section, so you can just eat them right out of the bag.

My problem is that I snack just because it's there. I need to learn how to just say no! It's hard at work because there is ALWAYS candy on someone's desk. I've been pretty good today (although I did have one cookie with lunch...). I find that carrots are a good thing to munch on because you can eat a ton of them and they are low in calories.

Met - I'd love to know what some of your fav recipes for snacks are, especially if they are kid friendly! I get in a rut very easily, and that's what usually makes me give in to the sweets!

You are both welcome.

I don't buy much sweets (now I don't buy them at all - what's not at home, won't end up in my mouth). I like to bake and I try to use only healthy stuff. Usually I use instead of flour oat flakes.

I just signed up for sparkpeople last night. Is it too late to join your group?

I have the goal of losing 20 lbs by July, so this would be a great way to keep me motivated. I work in the restaurant industry, and love food, so this will be a big challenge for me.

Can I join you? My weight jumped back up after steadily losing for the first three weeks -I'm back where I started. I'll set my goal for 5 lbs, but I'd really ultimately love to lose those 10!

My plan is to: stick to my 1500 cals per day
follow my exercise schedule
remember to drink my water
and eat my veggies!

My big goal is to clean up my eating - I've been watching Honey We're Killing the Kids, and boy, does it ever speak to me! I thought I had done a good job cleaning up our act, but I discovered I actually still buy a lot of high sugar foods. While we are no where near as bad as the families portrayed on TV, we can still use some improvement. I've already started "forgetting" to buy some of the treats my kids love, so they are forced to eat more fruit. They love fruit, but obviously given the choice of cookies or an apple, they pick the cookie! And I'm exactly the same way, which is why I gained all my weight back in the last week and a half.

You all seem so positive - that's awesome. Positive thinking gets us so much further than we really give it credit for. Good luck everyone - we can do it!

I'm a newbie here on the site (although I've been hitting some of the other "chat rooms"). My goal was 10 pounds by June 17th (the day of my wedding dress fitting- and which is what I've put on since I bought the dress...). But I think I can push it up a week if I have the motivation and support of everyone in here!

Nicole, it's just few bad day. You really don't want to quit. I also don't have friends, who would like to diet or exercise whit me - but it doesn't matter - I have this messageboard and I can find here all the support I need. Think about this: If you quit now and start all over again 2-3 months today, you'll just have to start from scratch. Rewrite again all your goals and what motivates you. Take a look at the bikini, you would like to wear this summer and imagine, how marvelous you'd look in them!!! Can you see it? I know you can do it!!!

Purplerain, I'm soory about your husband, too. I hope, day will pass by quickly for you and your girls. When ever you need a friend or comfort - we're here.

Foofalina, welcome. You have great plan and I'm confident in your success.

Lala, you did great yesterday. Just keep going this way. If you have sore muscles, is better not exercise - maybe just do some straching - that helps.

Your so lucky Metkec, I am addicted to salt...so I am really working on that right now.
I also really like an english breakfast tea, not sure if it is the same kind. I'll have to check but it is really good.

Hey Blue, I am going to try and get some more calories in but I don't think I want to many more. I have so much energy right now and I can eat smaller amounts and feel full. If I can get to 1000 calories a day without eating junk I would be thrilled. Cross your finger's for me

Purplerain, I am so sorry about your husband leaving. I can't imagine how hard that is for you and your babies. I will keep your husband in my thoughts and will send blessings your way for the time he is gone to go very quickly.

Welcome Foofalina! Your goals sound awesome, you are going to see results in no time!

Niclovesyou86, don't worry girly trust me we all have down times. Just remember you are doing this for you and we are all here to support you every step of the way!
I felt the same way last week but coming back to Spark for support helped me 110%. When you feel really down come on to spark and read a motivation article or read a couple of the success stories. That always pumps me up.
Sending good weight loss vibes your way

Hugs,

i am kinda having a hard week. i was doing so well, progressively making progress i had lost 9.5 pounds and this last weekend i gained 2 instead of lost and my confidence was shot. i thought it'd be easy to just work harder this week but those pounds really got in my head. i'm still working out but i'm getting tired a lot quicker. i'm eating alright but not 100% great. i'm not over anything but sooo almost am. and water i was drinking 10-12 cups a day and i can barely get 6-8 now. i'm on my 5th day of this barely hanging onto the wagon feeling and i just need to shake it.
my roommate stopped dieting and working out with me so maybe that is adding to my desire to just call it quits. i haven't weighed myself since the gain on saturday. hopefully something will click and i can jump head first back into all this!

PurpleRain- I'm so sorry! I have a hard time with my boy's crying when daddy goes to work 3 nights a week! LOL! So i can't even imagine what it's like for you. Why not go out for a walk if you start feeling bad or feel like eating something you shouldn't. Get your mind off of it by doing something good for you. Hope things get better soon. BTW- I NEVER watch the news (except the weather) Cause i just get too upset at the stupidity of some people!

Hi everyone. I too would like to lose 10 by June 10th. I am one of those very goal oriented people. If I set goals and track them I do best. So can I post my goals here?

Calorie Intake - 1200-1400 per day
No meal larger than 1-1/2 time my fist (eventually down to just the size of my fist)
Cardio - 150 minutes per week
Strength - 3 times per week
Pilates/Yoga - 3 times per week
Water - 64 - 80 oz a day
Veg/Fruit - 5 per day
Post or Journal everyday.

That is probably too much to track here each day...I will just chose three.
Food
Exercise
Veg/Fruit
Okay.
Thanks everyone.

Today was not a very good day. The military does not pay enough to have to watch your children cry crocodile tears while begging their daddy not to leave. It was heartbreaking. This is the hardest goodbye yet since they are a little older and actually understood that he is going to be gone for an good chunk of time.

I was also reminded how paranoid I become when he is gone. About the time his plane was taking off, the fire trucks and rescue trucks went screaming down the street... In the back of my mind I was imagining that something went wrong during takeoff, etc. Watching the news is the hardest. I will have to avoid it because it gives me horrible nightmares.

Deployments are like childbirth... They are so painful while going through it, but afterwards, memory of the pain fades and you go about your daily life. I forgot how painful this really was. I cannot count how many times we have had to do this, yet it never gets easy...

Today was not a good day. I comforted myself with food... No binges, just bad choices.

Tomorrow is a new day.

laura, if you're under 1000 calories a day and you're not hungry enough to even eat those, could it be that your metabolism has slowed right down because you're not taking in enough calories?

interesting about the hoodia (and the oprah!), will have to check them out.

Peanuts have many calories, but if you eat 10 peanuts a day, it's ok. They have just healthy fats. But it is true, that only natural peanuts are healthy. I even don't like salty or greasy food - so I like natural ones a lot.

At first I also didn't like green tea, but then I realised that the taste depends on the way you prepaire tea - the water musn't be too warm and you must leave tea bag in water just for maximum 2 minutes. If I leave longer, it's bitter - and I don't like bitter. I also like black tea - Winston English breakfast tea is the best (with a drop of milk). And also, if you leave the bag (I don't know the word in English for this little bags with tea) in water for 2 minutes, the tea works as stimulant, if you leave the bag for longer, the tea works as sedative (I hope this is the word).

Wow girly 16 glasses of water!! I am impressed! Anything more then 8 for me and I am puking
I hear ya about being sore, I was that way for my first week with Gilad. It's starting to wear off now though. Do you take a spinning class? I tried it a couple times but man it is a killer on my knee's

I have never heard of Apex but I drink my green tea every morning. I didn't like it at first but hey anything that is said to possibly slow down the aging process is awesome in my book.

if you go to www.hoodia.com, that is where you can get the all natural hoodia. I saw it on Oprah one day, she raves about it but you can see what a weight jumper she is
I haven't ordered any yet but I might, it is guarantee'd to have only Hoodia in it. They also have a pretty interesting 60 mins article about it.

Hey Blue,
I did manually reduce my calories to 1000 a day, it was 12-1400, I agree they are a bit high. I can't even get to the 1000 though, last night I added it up and only got to 700 and I ate 3 meals, 3 snacks & felt really good not even wanting to binge like I normally do.

Mmm I love peanuts Metkec too but read in my shape magazine that they are full of calories too and only the raw ones are healthy. *sigh* it is so hard to know what is truly healthy and what is not.
Thanks for the virtual websites, I think I am going to check it out too.

Oh well I am pumped for another day, I woke up this morning and tried on a skirt and two pairs of shorts that were way beyond my reach. The skirt looked great and I got both pair of shorts on!! Now neither one of them buttoned but two weeks ago I couldn't even get them over my hips!!

I love seeing a change in my body way more then reading the stupid scales!

More later,
Hugs,
Laura

I was actually in my calorie range yesterday- right above the low end. Couldn't work out... my legs were too sore from Tuesday's bike session to even think about getting near the stepper i have at home. SO i'm really glad i did good on my calorie count. I got in 16 glasses of water- 12 of them while i was at work. Tonight i might get on the elliptical trainer @ the gym. But i'm gonna have to do a ton of stretching!

I was taking supplements- Apex Fat Burn 1 & 3. The first one flushes excess fat out of your liver so your liver can focus on metabolizing other compounds- apparently fat takes longer for the liver to process. The second one is Caffeine, green tea and something else i can't remember- it's supposed to raise your internal body temp so you have to burn calories to cool yourself off. I'm off of them right now because of the money... but after i go on vacation next month i should be able to afford them again.

Hope everyone has an awesome day!

Lala, you have great kids – they sure be healthy and have good lifestyle habits.

Bluepancake, way to go. As of suppliments – if you don't change your lifestyle, eat well and exercise, even the suppliments won't help. So you don't have to worry about this. vitamins and minerals are micronutrients that our bodies need. Todays food is not so rich with then, so I think it's almost necessary take them.

I like raisins, too (and all dried fruit). For snack I also like peanuts (natural, non salted). But they are high in calories, so you have to really take just one handfull.

Laura, don't stop couting calories. Maybe some day you'll eat more and you won't know, why you are not losing weight.

hey laura, i had the same problem with reaching my calorie limits, i think because my exercise level is high and i'm not looking to lose a lot, sparkpeople put the limit a bit too high - no lower than what i was already eating anyway. you can artificially lower the figure they gave you in your settings. a high limit did me no good, i eat the same during the day regardless, but in the evenings i felt like i had to make up the missing calories and that would just get me started and i'd always overdo it. plus the whole eating late thing. not good.

as far as hoodia goes/other supplements, i know theres another discussion group somewhere on spark that was talking about this maybe a few weeks ago, i glanced at it but the only thing i can rememebr is that genuine hoodia is extremely hard to get hold of and that diet supplements / pills claiming to contain it most likely don't contain the genuine thing but a derivative (which may or my not work). worth looking into?

Hey~
Let me know if anyone knows anything about hoodia or that tea that they are advertizing now for weight loss. I've taken a bunch of things I'm
