This has been great motivation for me. I ate right all week, drank my water all week and went to the gym 4 times this week. This weekend I can't make it to the gym due to the snow, but I will be painting my new family room all weekend, so I am still burning calories! So, I didn't earn enough to get that perfume I wanted, but I still earned enough to get myself a small but well-deserved gift.

Sidewalk sales at the Mall. :) The stores are all getting rid of their winter merchandise.
I love FlyLady! I have been flapping my tiny wings off and on for a few years now. I fall off the wagon frequently, but I always get back up. We are remodeling my house, so I have done loads of decluttering with loads more to do. A LOT of my clutter somehow wound up in the basement. This spring it will get decluttered too.
I earned all my stars today. So I am $2 closer to that perfume I wanted. :) Any ideas on what you would like to buy with your earnings?

Woo! Where did you find a $7 sweater?!

I notice you are also a Flybaby...so am I! At the moment I am "de-cluttering" my recipes...you know...all those ripped out pages from magazines. If it ain't healthy, I'm not keeping it. Then I can put them in a Word document, and use them when needed.

Terrific Lucinda! So far this is really helping me to keep motivated and take things one day at a time. Every time that I add another star to my calendar I think, "this is for me". I am hoping to earn enough stars this week to get this perfume that I have wanted for a long time but couldn't bring myself to buy. Fresh White Musk, $12. I just started this last week, but I earned $7 and got myself a sweater that was on sale. :)

This challenge was created because after many years of fad dieting and kicking myself for failing at all of them, I decided I needed a new tactic. So instead of putting myself down for failure after failure, I decided it was time to reward myself for the things I do right! As a working mom of two girls, I never splurge on myself. I never take time to pamper myself. This week I decided to change all of that. If you would like to join me, here is the basic plan:

Items needed:
calendar
Pack of gold, silver, red, blue and green star stickers (like the kind your elementary school teacher put on your good test papers, I got mine at Walmart, under $2)

Everyday that you stick to a healthy eating plan you give yourself a Green Star.
Everyday that you drink 8 or more glasses of water you give yourself a Blue Star.
Everyday that you exercise you give yourself a Red Star.

At the end of the week, you reward yourself for stars earned. I give myself $1.00 for every Red and Green star. The Total amount I can earn is $14.00 per week. (I don't pay myself for the water, since it is not a problem for me, I have always drank lots of water) You could designate any amount of money per star that fits your budget, as well as pay yourself for each blue water star if drinking water is a problem for you.
In addition, you can give yourself up to 2 silver stars to use as a "freebie" or "wild card". In other words, if you went over your meal plan or didn't exercise one day, you can still reward yourself with a silver star, up to 2 per week to be used as you like.
BONUS: At the end of the week, if you have a TOTAL of 20 stars, including red, blue, green and silver, you give yourself a Gold Star for a terrific week. (I have decided to make my gold stars worth an additional $5, bringing my total possible earnings up to $19 WOOHOO!)
So, even if I would only earn say, 4 green and 2 red stars, I would still pay myself $6 at the end of the week (Friday is payday for me) and I would spend it all on myself! So instead of beating myself up for the days I didn't stick to a plan, or exercise, I will reward myself for the effort that I did make to get healthy.
Additional Rules:
You do not pay yourself for any silver stars, but you DO count them at the end of the week towards the Gold Star Bonus.
You must pay yourself at the end of the week for this to work. If you decide to spend it on the kids or pay a bill, etc., then you have already decided you are not worth it. You can put the money aside if you are trying to save up for something really special, but it only gets spent on YOU! If you buy yourself something, and have change left over, put it away and add it to your next weeks earnings.
The whole point of this is, even if you only exercise one time or eat healthy one day, it is still worth celebrating. It takes your focus off the dreaded scale. Because we all know, that even if we feel we have done good, you can have a week that shows no change in numbers on the scale and it can make you want to give up in despair. This will help keep you motivated to stay on track, even when your scale is not being friendly. It is a step in the right direction. A step closer to a healthier, happier and more pampered you!
Anyone want to join me?
