Hey Beth! Okay -- i can take off another 60 minutes from December to finish at 200. I guess 1000 minutes for the month isn't too bad! We just blew up the ball today so I haven't tried it yet. Soon though! Looking forward to getting back on track. I'll see you in Jump into January! Kel

Names sound great! I actually got a stability ball w/ a tape for Christmas, so I'm looking forward to trying that out. Not a lot of room in my tv room for moving around, though. I also have a Pilates set that I really like. Other than that, I'll get back to my swim, and if this little bit of employment works out for me, I might join Curves for the winter. I know I need to get the exercise in somehow! Missing my walks, though. We actually have a big melt on today -- sidewalks are clear and they are calling for sunshine this afternoon! Maybe a walk ?!?! Congrats on making your goal -- that's awesome! Have a really Happy New Year! Kel

Thanks Kelly. Happy New Year to you and Deb. That will be fun to have your family with you tonight. All of mine have returned home, its just my husband and son and daughter here in Key Largo. My husband hates cold weather and snow, and would never want to move back to the north. I really like the snow, but just for playing on vacation, I remember how hard it was as an everyday, clear the drive so you can go to work thing.
Do you ever do videotape workouts? I have one dance workout that I like, but need some variety. I love aerobics classes but cannot seem to fit their schedule into my schedule. So for now individual workouts will have to do.
Went for another bike ride yesterday w/Ryan for 30, and this morning for 50. I did it!! Even went a little over goal, so need to set the same or higher for next month.
Will get back in touch later today, thinking about our new challenge name. How about Jump into January w/fitness? Or just jump into January? later - Beth

We've never been big New Year's people ... a highly overrated holiday to my way of thinking. However, this year we are getting together with my sister and her fiance (just got engaged on Christmas day!), and his boys. It'll be the first time -- ever I think -- that I've spent it with her so I'm looking forward to it! I just found out that my church is having a 21 day fast -- not a total fast, just as we feel led (give up coffee, sweets etc -- whatever you know you indulge in too much). I've got to do some thinking about it, but it's another good opportunity to get my good habits back in order -- I think likely I'll fast sweets and fast food. I also need to get back off the coffee -- oh, but it's been good over the holidays! Another thing is the alcohol -- not that I overdo it, but just too often, I think. So, none for 21 days should be good with an ultimate goal of only Fridays and Saturdays with a 2 drink max. Hmmmm... Congrats on making your goal, girl! I'm really proud of you. Wish we had biking weather here -- I love the snow for Christmas, but I'm not much of a snow sport enthusiast! I'd much rather be out walking! Dont' forget to name January's challenge and I will definitely be there with you, my friend! Thanks for the motivation -- you are great! Happy New Year to you and yours! Kelly

Hi Kelly, we do what we can, I think we all did great this Christmas to do any exercise, I know last year I was much more of a couch potato, so this challenge has been a big help to me.
Honestly, I put my scale away weeks ago, and may not drag it out until the end of January. I sometimes get in a rut when the numbers on that little gadget don't say what I wish for them to say. I don't want to give that power to a gadget!! So I will have to measure my progress in another way, like how clothes fit, or by taking measurements.
Yesterday I went on a 42 minute bike ride with my son Ryan, and then washed my Yukon for 35 minutes, total of 77 min. Today took a walk for 37 min. , my new total is down to 39 minutes!!!
Ryan got a new bike for Christmas, so that helps to keep me moving. Might head out for a short ride this afternoon.
Whatcha doing for New years eve? No big plans here, not really my holiday anymore. Especially if I want to start my new healthy plans on Saturday feeling good.
Have a great day! Beth

Hey Beth -- way to go!!! You have been a movin! I think you're going to do it! Well, I can log 45 minutes of serious walking Christmas eve -- out for a walk in the snow and we always go to the big park here in town to see the Christmas light displays on Christmas eve -- this time saw me carrying my 4 year old in her snow suit. That's always an interesting challenge! Anyway... pretty motionless since then -- except for my mouth, that is! However, I did weigh in this morning. Although I am up a bit, I am still within my normal "fluctuation", which was my goal. I need to tone it down a bit for the next few days, but I'm with you. After New Years I am back to business. According to the "Curves" article, increasing my intake like this for a couple weeks SHOULD help jump start the old metabolism and maybe I can start getting somewhere with this thing! I am really looking forward to getting back to regular exercise. Also been slacking on my water -- that's espcially bad since I replaced it with lovely things like coffee and wine! So.... a few more days of grace then back to business. 305-45 leaves 260. I doubt I'm making the goal this month! No surprise there, though! Have a great day -- I'M REALLY PROUD OF YOU! Kelly

Hi again, I just sat at my desk and discovered notes of two days exercises that I did not include - maybe that goal can be reached after all - I forgot to track Wed. & Thurs. Of last week - 12/22 20 min. Walk and 45 min. Cleaning 12/23 35 min. Walk - revised new total - drum roll please - 153!!! Divide that by 4 more days of the year including today and that's only 39. Minutes per day. Do-able I think!! check in later - Beth

Hi Kelly & Deb, made it through the Christmas Eve pigroast - 50 people at my house!!! Then through Christmas and finally all my guests have departed and am trying to get back on track. We will see if I can make my goal, it will be tight but may get close. Here's the last week or so- 12/24 heavy cleaning for party 60 minutes 12/25 - 15 minutes swimming on Christmas day 12/26 - 50 minute walk with newlywed sister, 30 min. Cleaning 12/27 - 30 min. Cleaning 12/28 - 30 minutes cleaning new total - 253
don't know about getting 253 minutes in over the next few days, but will give it my best shot. I did better than I would have if I didn't have this challenge, that's for sure.
Kelly, I have been awful about watching what I eat - not to mention drinks! Wine, vodka and cranberry, you name it and we drank it. My brother in law was making up frozen margaritas on Christmas day, the one sunny warm day of the holidays, and I did not say no to them. yummy!
But come new years day, I am once again starting over with healthy eating and quitting drinking the alcohol, at least daily like it has been. Its been quite a party, but I guess it has to be over sometime.
well i am off to wash the car, bike ride with my son, and keep moving to shoot for my goal. Hope you all had happy holidays and are motivated to get back on track with me! Beth

Happy Christmas Eve, Ladies! well, we've had a good wallop of snow here! So, I am logging 90 minutes of heavy cleaning and 60 minutes of shovelling snow! That leaves 305. I'm guessing I'm going to miss my target this month -- not a lot of exercise prospects for the next week. HOWEVER, maybe we'll get the kids out tobogganing or skating or something! As for the food -- well, I'm trying to watch portions, but have decided to enjoy the holidays. I've been on a plateau for months here -- maybe a couple weeks of indulgence will kick start this sad little metabolism I've been sporting?! MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU BOTH! I hope we can do this again in the new year when we're ALL ready to get back on track! Blessings of health and joy to you! KElly HO HO HO HO HO!!!!

Hey Beth and Deb -- Way to go, Beth -- lots of activity for you! Wow. Am I a loser! Feels like I've never been so busy and so inactive before. What a weird combination! I've been Christmas shopping, baking, certainly exercising my cookie-eating muscles....but no swimming and no walks. The weather has been rough here -- last week a really cold snap, now we're getting a snow storm. I'm a bit of a suck about slipping and falling! GOT to get some indoor programs going to keep this fitness up! Hoping to do some cleaning this aft -- I'll get back to you! Merry Christmas all!

Hi girls! This has been a fairly inactive week for me --- crazy busy, but not with fitness unfortunately! I did do 120 min of heavy cleaning this morning and 20 minutes of shovelling snow when I got home. I am down to 455. I need to schedule fitness back into my life -- I've been working a bit in the mornings when I usually walk or swim. I'm finding it difficult to fit in another time. Anybody else struggling this month? Take care! Kelly

Wish You were here to help me get my house in order!
We go the tree up last night, with lights, but no decorations yet. We aren't home long enough to get much accomplished. Going to the Miami air port today to pick up my brother, the first to arrive for the wedding. Can't wait to see him -
Saturday did a 38 minute walk, 20 minutes of weights to bring my total down to 929, then a 10 minute bike ride this morning - 928. I gotta get moving -
have a great day everyone

Hi Kelly & Deb - Kel, u r right - we have to grab those short bits of time and make them work for us - yesterday did 51 minutes cycling, then later in day did 24 minutes weights. This a.m. did a 22 minute bike ride - new total is 987! I got a new watch since I started this challenge which has a stopwatch so I really am down to the minute in tracking. Its kinda fun, it gets me motivated to do just 5 more minutes - and some days I use my polar heart rate monitor, that really pushes me to stay working hard. Finally got our Christmas tree, but its outside in a bucket of water, maybe this weekend we'll get it decorated. have a great day and keep moving!

Thanks for the encouragement, Beth! Yep -- everyone seems to be healthy at the moment (whew!). Christmas wedding -- how neat! Remember -- if you can't get in big workouts, you can probably still find 10 or 15 minutes here and there -- it'll add up! The trick is grabbing the motivation to do it when the opportunity arises! Take care! Kel

Hi Kelly and Deb - Kelly - good for you to push through bad weather and still work out. great attitude! been kinda busy - no workout on Sunday Monday - cycle and weights, total 50 Tuesday - nothing Wednesday - 45 minutes on bike so far - new total 1062
Still haven't got the tree, maybe today. My sister gets married here in the Keys on Dec. 18, lots of family arriving starting next Monday. I will really have to stay/get? disciplined to meet my goal. I plan on doing it, but see already that its tougher at this time of year. My son's birthday party yesterday threw me off, imagine what wedding parties will do to me!
Have a great day girls. Hope your little one is feeling better.

Well I guess this is how you start a new thread? This is a group formerly called Getting our butts in gear for November,. The object is to set a goal for minutes exercised during the month of December (mine is 1320), then come back here daily or as often as possible and give your minutes exercised (30 for me for Wednesday) and your balance let to reach your goal (1290). That's all there is to it. Kelly, Beth hope this is correct please make any changes necessary. Welcome any newcomers!!
