Thanks Sandy and K! I'll have to try to do some challenges.... I have been in a rut, so this may help me! Good luck to you both!

Hi ACHAPMA,

We have a challenge going on now the challenge is for everyone to lose 10 lbs by feb.28th, then each week one person gives us a challenge to do for that week, this week is to do 30mins cardio three days out of the week.
Challenges are just to help motivate you to lose the weight.
The only difference with team is you have a group trying to beat another group, so you have other people depending on you to keep up and lose the weight to win the challenge.

Hope this helps.

No, you can join any challenge. The only ones with leaders are the ones with team. You can also start your own challenge if you want.

Thanks K!
Do you have to ask someone to join a challenge? Is there a "leader?"

The only difference is that someone decided to make a team challenge. All the other challenges are all on the one thread. The team challenges have different threads per team. Once you start posting to a challenge and getting more comfortable with it, you will notice new team challenges come up. Then, you might want to join one. For now, I'd stick to the regular challenges until you get more comfortable with it. Just dive in and pick something that looks interesteing. It's never too late to join the regular challenges and everyone is very receptive and supportive.

Good luck!

What's the difference between a regular challenge and one that has teams?

Hi, I thought I'd alos mention that if you're interested in a challenge, make sure you go to the very first page and scroll down to the bottom to read the first post. This will give you the idea behind the challenge without having to read the whole thread. I hope this helps.

Wow Lynn that is wonderful. The 120's. I am shooting for the 130's right now. I am so close that I can see it, but it just hasn't happened yet.

I am on both of the challenges that JGuice is talking about and I would like to just pop in and say hi and welcome to sparks. I have my goal poster that I made in my picture spot. I have been doing sparks for just over a year. I use the boards to chat about things that are of intrest to me. I do like the BL challenge because we were watching the show and talking about things that were going on in the show. I can relate to suzzy and refer to her when things come up. Don't ask me why I had popcorn and brownies for dinner but I'm glad I didn't have any icecream in the house. You can also find me on the sugar addicts board and guess why. I had a friend that got sucked into LA weight loss so I typed it in and found out if anyone had an opinion on it. Then I did a search to see if anyone has the ab lounge and if it works. You don't need to be apart of everything, You would have no life outside of reading the boards. When you find a group you want to chat on make sure you ask for an e-mail or subscribe to the group. You may find some groups are short lived. Have some fun. A good one to check out is under the cafe called where are you from and what do you do. You will find out howmany different people are. check out the profile of members and look for members that have common goals as you do. Have fun and I will pop back.
BTW JGUIce I made it into the 120's
having a he%% of a time getting to goal. I am stuck again. I'm happy to see you are going in the right driction again. Keep it up. Feb is the last cold month here in WI and it's a short one.

ACHAPMA

The main topic biggest loser Meltdown broke out into different color groups Red, purple, Blue, Yellow, Orange, etc. Each team has it's own thread that they post on daily. Every Tuesday they weigh in and post their weight on their thread, and the team captain will post it to the main thread. Each team is in competition to see which team can lose the most weight. I forget when it is over.

The steppin to be fit is the same thing except it has dog names, like collie, poodle, etc. There they are completing to see who can get in the most steps walking in a week.

Hope this helps.

I am new this month and there are still things that I don't understand...so I skip those and do the things I do understand which is keeping me plenty busy...in the Challenges section, I look for topic headings that catch my interest - like 10% weight loss...and I read the first post to see what the initiator of the thread had in mind...It might be 10% in one week (not for me) or 10% in a month or 10% as a first goal...or whatever else...then you post your success in meeting the goal and meet people along the way and support each other in the most important goal to be healthy and happy.

A,

The colors are all teams in one challenge- the biggest loser challenge. That challenge has been going on for awhile, so I'm not sure if it's too late to join or not.

I just posted 5 challenges today, all called "New Member" that you might be interested in. Just click on the thread and read it from the bottom to top to see if you'd like to participate.

Let me know if you have more questions!
