lADYBASS, hey I am sorry that some people have turned this into a cat fighting room. I will creat another room if you would like. You know my email and for those of you who dont I will leave it for you here. If you want to join us else where. Please leave me an email and give your age. I dont feel like babysitting anymore, I just want a forum that will SPARK our lives and let us reach a goal. And when it is all done and over, you people remember me and know that I helped you.. That is my reward, along with losing weight.

All I wrote was "damn." Sorry if it offends you. And that was me controlling my language, I could have wrote much "worse" things than that. However, I held back, realizing that this IS a public forum. I didn't think a word such as "damn" would offend everyone. I am just tired of coming in here and reading things that I should do because "it would help me lose weight faster." I want to find comforting words and support in here telling me I can do it and that I won't fail. Maybe the tones are being miscommunicated? Maybe I am reading things that are supposed to come off as support as things that are a bit harsh? Maybe I feel as though I am being treated differently because I am young than most people who post to this particular topic.

Again, sorry for the "harsh langauge." And yes, I do know how to control it, thank you very much.

Bye, guys. Good luck with your weight loss!

I'm sorry Brenda I maybe I'm out of line, but I don't want to be in a forum with people who can't control their language. Nobody did anything so bad that would excuse that. It's a forum and everyone has a right to their opinion but if an opinion makes you so mad that you can't control your language then maybe this isn't the forum for them you know?

Sorry again,
Shirley

Yeah, all I am hearing is harshness from some of you. And you know what? OMG IF I HAVE ONE TABLESPOON OF CHOCOLATE CHIPS WITH MY PANCAKES! As if one tablespoon is going to make me gain ten pounds. This does not mean that I dumped one damn cup of the chocolate chips into the damn batter. This also does not mean that I am going to go have MORE chocolate chips.

Also, yes, the burritos and Kool Aid Jammer I had for dinner one night WERE healthy. They were made with whole wheat tortillas, ground lean beef, some sauce on top, with a little bit of low-fat shredded cheese on top for a grand total of 205 cal/5 g of fat for one. The Jammers IBLEAH26 talk about ARE in fact healthy--10 calories, 0 fat, 0 sugars.

This topic is called "Weigh Less by June 2006 and Be Healthy" NOT "Weigh Less by June 2006 by using DIET X." We are all here for a reason: to be healthy and lose weight. We are doing it differently. I am certainly NOT falling off the band-wagon because I had a tablespoon of chocolate chips with my whole wheat pancakes. I am sick of reading "Oh, it'll be okay the next day!" for eating a small amount of chocolate. What? Just because I chose to eat chocolate does not mean I am not in this fully. I am in this to not fail again like I have the other times, and seeing your harshness is just a killjoy. Sure, you don't have to sugar-coat things, but there is a definite nicer way to state the things you have said.

I would rather you didnt leave this forum for I feel that we can help you cut some of the foods that "you Post" that you eat. What do you eat other than the things you post. Go back and read your post to read it again you might see what we read from you. If you decide to leave this forum, you will be missed. and I will think of you and worry for you.. Good Luck

My party idea is... Indenpence Day....
I worked out with the Biggest Losers Video.( it is easy and great and they are real people. No fake women with throngs up their butts)These are people that were like me over 200 lbs.. and lost it... then I rode the bikes for about 2 miles my hubby and I. I am feeling so much better, everyday I can do more. Yesterday I painted the inside of an entire house, 2 bd room, great room, kitchen baths, in only 5 hrs. that burned a lot of calories. I have not had engery like this in 2 yrs, and that is saying a lot for a 51 yr old woman, who couldnt get off the couch during the day and when I got up in the morning I went back to the couch. I am a new person now.....I can I will lose weight and be healty.

But this is what I like about Spark - I'm eating healthy & a burrito can be healthy (beans are good, drained meat, a little cheese & vegtables) & Kool aid jammers (or at least the ones I give my kids) are sugar free & only 10 calories so I don't see how that is junk food or bad. Just because I'm not eating the foods you think I should doesn't mean I'm falling off the wagon. And I am going to find a diffent forum cause I'm losing weight for me & doing this for me - and what I'm doing shouldn't have any effect on how you are doing on yours, you may be disappointed with me not following your diet but I'm happy with it & I'm happy if you are doing fine & I'm hoping you are but if you aren't then that's your problem, I will try to help you but I'm not going to fail just because someone else is failing.

HELLO SHIRLEY, I agree with you, it has been very discouraging to me to try and help someone in this forum when all I get back in negative feed back. If some one slips up and says I feel off the wagon and ate pancakes, syrup, and choc. chips and I really feel bad can anyone help me , then this is what this forum is, but when it is just stating that they ate it and that is the way to go is not what this forum is about. I hope that the ladies havent left us and are just busy this weekend. When I started this forum, I felt that people followed me for I was trying to help everyone and in return needed their help also, I too, struggle with this diet, my gosh I can only dream of weighing 135lbs, Im not here to let people down and I dont need to be let down. I need that get up and go feeling from everyone in here. If anyone left for they were discouraged then please come back, Shirley and I will still be here and will try to help anyone. If you have to have junk food just keep it to yourself and that way, we wont offer our opinion. What we dont know wont hurt us, you knowing what you eat will. Lets have a party. OK HERE IS WHAT EVERYONE IS TO DO. FIRST LETS FIND A THEME FOR THE PARTY. LIKE BEACH PARTY, CHRISTMAS PARTY, VOLLEYBALL PARTY, WHAT EVER, LOSING WEIGHT PARTY. EACH ONE GIVE AN IDEA FOR A THEME. no we wont be at a party, what we will do is decide on a theme, then vote and then for one week we will each send in a recipe for what foods we would want to have at this party. that way we swap recipes, have fun doing it and see what someone would eat if at that party.. we will count the calories in each and see how we can do. Then at the end of the party we will each take a recipe that was given and try it and let everyone know how they did on it.. Yes, parties always have "junk " food, but there are low calorie, low fat Junk food.... Come on this will be fun...... Anyone Game? Oh shirley, how do I change the CW on here for myself

I'm still here. For some reason I wasn't getting the emails when someone sent a reply.

Here is my insight and I'm not trying to be Condecending, If you are looking for support to eat HEALTHIER then we can certainly give it to you, however it may be bothersome for us to tell you that "chocolate chips" on pancakes is NOT healthy. Nor is a Kool aid jammer with a burrito. Nestles does make sugar free chocate bars if it is extremely necassary for you to have one, which I do once in a while myself. But I also think that posting the chocolate and stuff that you ate also encourages others that it's ok to do that. I am here to lose and I personally struggle with chocolate and sweets as it is, and I don't need any more encouragement to eat that stuff than I already get from work when they come around with baskets of candy because they think that sugar gives you more energy to make sales.

We are here for support but I am not one to pat you on the back for something I don't feel is good for u or the team.

IBLEAH AND MNK... here we go again, people not reading what it says. to both of you, I have you in mind when I may say something that you dont like. I want to see all of us lose the weight we want. Posting on a forum, means saying what ever you want and expect someone to comment. I really try to say things nice and I really try to give my opinion...( not calling you bad for what you eat or scolding anyone of you) In my Post you will see that I sometimes feel like a mother in here. If I have said anything that hurt you I am sorry, I just want to help. Lets start over and see what we can do to motivate you as you said. But first let me say that I have never been one to sugar coat anything that I say, I say it like I see it. I am not going to tell you it is ok to eat at midnight or that if you eat half a cake today that you wont feel bad tomorrow in order to make you feel good or to make you like me. I just want you to reach your goals.. and I feel that overlooking something is not giving you motivation.. good luck girls.....

I kind of took it the same way. But don't get offended, maybe they are motivated by people telling them are bad & they do better if they think some one is going to judge them for everything. I just don't happen to be one of them & apperantly so neither are you. And I don't think junk food should be totally eliminated, they should be really limited. Cause how feasible is it to say - I am never going to have another piece of candy? It's a sure fire way to fail. But if you say I can have a piece of candy everyonce in awhile & still stay in my calorie range, that is attainable.

IBLEAH26:

"I don't need lectures about when I eat something "bad", I need motivation to not give up."

I agree with this statement. I feel as though that certain people in this thread appear angry or even mad if they feel that someone isn't doing up to par. I believe that tone is everything, and the tone I get from certain people is that of an angry and even condescending tone. What we need is support and motivation to eat BETTER (not necessarily, cut out ALL junk because it will help us lose weight quicker) and exercise MORE. I read some posts in this thread, and just go "what the fu...?" It seems condescending, as if we are doing something wrong by not doing what THEY are doing. I feel as though they jumped on you when you asked "what if I go over my calories."

I need support for what I am doing to help me be healthier--eating decent-sized portions and exercising more. I don't need to hear "oh, well, you should really cut out that junk food." It's not unreasonable, but it's just not what I am going to do. Again, that doesn't mean that I am not committed to this program, it just means I am doing it differently.

MNK, I know how it is to not be able to afford the new food, and I know how it is not to like certain foods, sometimes we think that we dont like something cause we are set in eating certain things and your weakness is junk food. We all understand. It is up to you to be honest with yourself and learn to eat differently. No one will scold you for what you eat, its just to say that you will lose sooner if you watch the junk food. Eating late at night is bad, anything after 8pm is not good for you in some way. I know that you will make it. When I went from low carb foods to this program, my husband said, but I just bought all that low carb stuff when I said I need new items,, LOL he will get over it. and I will be healthy HANG IN THERE OK...

I am serious about losing weight, but I am also going to take this by babysteps, cause it's better for me in the long run. I have tried to do everything the perfect way so many times & perfection is not realalistic & it only leads to failure. So I may not being doing super great but I'm doing better than I was before, and that is what matters. I don't need lectures about when I eat something "bad", I need motivation to not give up. I give myself enough guilt trips, I don't need anyone else to. So I don't need any one to be "mad" at me when I make a mistake, I need someone to ask me why I did it & how I am going to something different next time the situation comes along.

Just my point of view.

IBLEAH, you will catch on and you will start losing weight. that is a promise... that you make your self and keep that promise. My hubby and I went and bought new bicyles today, ( with big butt seats lol) and it was great to ride together, now my hubby, Greg doesnt have to lose weight, he is one of these that can eat ten plates of ice cream, ten taco, and all that bad stuff and never gain an ounce, but me nah, I gain just by looking at him eat...LOL give it time. not gaining is good, too. So dont give up ok.
Good Luck sweetie..

Brendann:

I don't personally follow the meal plans for several reasons. One, there was stuff on there that I just do not like to eat. Two, if there were items on there that I did like, but did not have at home, I have no money to buy them. I got "rid" of meal plan; instead, I eat what I eat in decent portions. I don't enter my food into the meal planner, I write it down in my own journal.

However, I do perform the strength exercises the site says I should do--they are quick and easy. I do cardio, and have down about 120 minutes so far this week!

So, I have eaten decently today, had some whole wheat pancakes with about 1 tablespoon of chocolate chips (got to make the whole wheat taste good to me somehow!). In addition, I exercised for 20 minutes today, and may do a little bit more later :-)

Hope you ladies are doing well!

ETA: I think we are all here for the same reason--to be healthier AND lose weight. To me, that is NOT cutting out ALL the junk. Rather, it is about learning about portion control; eat more healthy things and less of the "bad" things. I couldn't imagine not drinking coffee, even if some of us think it is "bad." That is why I only have a maximum of 2 cups a day. Same goes with the food that a lot of us like--hamburgers, nachos, hot-dogs, ice cream. etc. Remember, there ARE healthier versions of these particular food items. I admit, I DO eat late at night, but that doesn't mean that I am "forgetting why I am here." We are here for support in losing weight and becoming healthier.

I know that it would be so much easier to just eat within the calorie range & then I wouldn't have to worry about all this, but sometimes it just happens. And what you say is true about we are here to lose weight. I guess I don't have the right mindset yet, cause I'm just all excited about not gaining any weight for once, but I'm working on the mind thing too.

OKAY FOLKS I HAVE A QUESTION......... do any of you follow the menus that are programed for you personally on Spark? Do any of you follow the excerise that YOU have programed for yourself? I just wanted to know. If you follow what you eat, you will be sure to lose the weight. I was going to weight and weigh in Monday, but I got a new scale and this is what I suffered for all week. ( just kidding it was a fun week) I LOST 6 LBS.. so it does work....

IBLEAH, ok here is my opinion!!! you cant make up anything, what you eat today either is burnt off by excerise or it settles in your body and turns to fat. There is no making up tomorrow by eating less because you need your calories that day. If you eat less do you excerise less, I hope not. Eating more and excerise more is really not the way to go either. Why you ask, you should have a calorie burning goal for each week. That goal is based on your calorie intake that day. This program is based on your needs and your weight. Everyone says they have walked for 30 minutes, do you know how many calories that burns? No, so if you eat 300 more calories than you need too, then how much more you gonna walk to burn that off.. I can tell you 2 hrs... can you walk for 2 hours.. IBLEAH.. PLEASE WATCH YOUR CALORIE INTAKE. then you wont have to woryy about doing more excerise..Good Luck Girl it will get better

LADY BASS, I agree with you, I have a feeling that some of us are forgetting why we are here. I dont mean to hurt anyones feelings, but it is not just about calories, its eating healthy food. Im afraid that those who continue to eat late at night and eat all the junk food will fail in the end. This is a serious time im our life, its do it or not. I want everyone here to be serious, to stuggle with the others, craving foods are the hardest part, but you gotta struggle with yourself, discipline your self in order to meet your goals.. well I am so shocked at what I have read that I cant think of the right thing to say., I want to help everyone but my gosh, lets get real.. Good luck to all

by the way I made a new dessert last night that was awesome. I had bought a can of coconut milk awhile back ago because it was on sale. didn't know what I was going to do with it but I thought I could use it someday. So I bought 2 small packages of sugarfree chocolate fudge pudding mix and some almond flavor. I added the coconut milk to the skim milk to make the 4 cups needed and mixed it all together then added the almond flavor until I could taste it, probably about 1 1/2 tsps. and wah lah I had developed a almond joy pudding cup that was only 110 calories for a serving which was about 3/4 cup. I might have to submit this recipe to goodhousekeeping or something :)
