I found something totally silly and fun to try....belly dancing! Ha! Of course, at my weight, when I'm done my belly just keeps right on dancing for awhile. But I wait till no one is home, then close the drapes, blindfold the dog (kidding!)....then have fun.

Exercise is essential, not only for weight loss but for health itself. Yet so often we don't make time for it. I want to challenge all of you this week to take time to do one thing each day to become more active.
For me, this is a real challenge. Years of obesity have taken their toll on my knees, and walking can be painful. Yet I know that doctors recommend gentle exercise for people with arthritis in order to maintain mobility. I also have exertional chest pain and have been told by my doctor not to exercise strenuously until further tests are done.
It would be so easy to just give up and stay on the couch. But then I remember my mom. Before her death, mom was paralyzed by a rare illness for about three years. How she would have loved to get up and go for a walk! Mobility, and the independence that depends on it, is not a given. To be able to exercise is a gift to be embraced.
So lace up those sneakers! Let's report each day and encourage each other to get moving!
