Lisa, I do the same thing. Visualizing, I mean. The odd thing is that, while I can visualize the scale, I can't visualize my body. Maybe it's because I don't have any memories of being 'thin'. I do have memories of being active (long, long time ago!), so that's another area where I visualize.
I was away last week and basically maintained, so I'm still closing in on my 2nd 10% goal. Next week I'm working really hard to reach it, because the week after is Thanksgiving and with company, etc there's very little hope!

Hi,
I see you're doing your work to close in on your 2ND 10% GOAL

Today I did a visualization exercise, picturing the scale going down pound by pound from 228 to 207 (my next 10%)
Best wishes, Lisa

Congratulations, Ev!!!!
I GAINED 3 lb this week! I had 2 all day scout events over the weekend that I was organizing. Fri didn't make it to the fitness center because I ran out of time getting ready for Sat & Sun. I packed healthy meals, BUT also ate the trail mix snack I prepared for Sunday's event. Sunday evening I had dinner with my dd, which was great, but I was exhausted by the time I got home @10pm. Monday I hurt all over and spent the day in bed, no energy to prepare good food (MORE leftover trailmix!). No energy for computer, either, that's when I know I'm not well. LOL Have to work harder on convenient, easy to eat healthy choices when I feel sick & and am alone(dh was travelling). Better Tuesday, eventually talked myself into going to WA. Had fun, but I felt chilled most of the time. Yesterday, much better & back to my regular workout, although pretty lowkey.
On the bright side, I'm still under 300. And, in my effort to get warm, I took a hot bath. I can't remember the last time I took a bath. For many, many years I didn't fit, and the last time I tried (about a year ago), my hip wasn't flexible or strong enough for me to get down without pain. It was very, very nice to relax in hot, hot water with bath salts & oil! and then to get out again without it being a major production!

Hi Linda and Ev
Way to go gals!! I am just so thrilled that you both have gotten down to another numbers category! That is the best news, and always a great encourager-marker. I hope this downward trend continues as you keep up the good work and perserverance with your programs.
YOU DID IT!!! : )
Since I have been sick with the flu for over two weeks, I have not weighed. But, I will do a weigh in on Saturday, and start from there --- whatever the figure is then. I know it won't be good, but you can't change what you don't acknowledge, right?!!

Ev, you might have something there about the water. I wasn't drinking nearly enough water while I was away. and I was drinking coffee, which I don't normally do. I think that messed up my fluid retention.
I weighed-in today at 295.6 lb. Yeah! Less than 10 lb to go to my 2nd 10%.

Well I had a small gain this week of a half pound. Well I will get that off and work on that 10%.
Linda : you might be like me on trips I gain a lot of water and when i get home it comes off fast as soon As i start to eat right again. Ev

Megamama, Great job!! I am glad you are doing other challenges, too. I believe if you keep up your attitude of "can do" that is half the battle right there. Yes, you CAN DO this! Your first 10% goal is right within reach!
Repeat after me.. "I CAN" "I CAN" "I CAN"!!!!

Hey Linda.. (I just typed a message a few minutes ago, but mispelled my username, so had to have it sent to me again. Very simple, silly mistake!!) Anyhow.... I am VERY glad you didn't have a gain for this weigh-in. Whew!! : ) Yes, you are so close to that 290 goal ---- I know how it feels to be that close (.5) to one of those marks. Maybe THIS WEEK will do it!! Got my fingers crossed for you.
Ev... you did well this week, too. Every little bit helps, and just a little at a time is a very good and safe way to go at it. You are close to one of those goal-marks too!! hip hip away!!! (ooops, Ev... I thought your last post was from THIS week... checking the date, I see it's not. Sorry. But, you will do better this time, won't you!!!)
I am still suffering a bit with this nasty cold, so no progress on my weight yet. I am just concentrating on getting better. Don't know how much more of this "resting" I can handle!! Just not my speed to be couch-potatoing it for so long... but, guess that's what it takes. Gone through two John Grisham novels this week!! I am hoping next week I will be well enough to begin life again. Went to Curves this morning and did 1/2 the circuit... felt great!

Megamomma!!! You're doing really well!
Ev! Every little bit counts!
I did ok at today's weigh-in. Basically a wash, which surprised me since on Monday I was 8 lb heavier! Go figure. This afternoon I was so surprised I waited a while watching to see if the scale would change. But it didn't. 300.5 lb down .9 lb from 2 weeks ago. I'm happy that I didn't go up a lot. There's a price to be paid for 10 days of no exercise & fattening food.
Getting real close to the 290's. Next week.....
Linda

Well I gain last week 1.75. This week i lose .5. So i'm back at it again and hope to lose the rest I gain from last week.
Good job to those who have lose. keep it up. Ev

Greetings all: Had to weigh in today for another challenge. I'm down to 348. I only need to lose 10 more pounds for my 1st 10%. The end is in sight. I'm guessing this should happen around mid/late October. Maybe sooner, if I can stop eating at the lower end of my range instead of the upper.

Next week I'm going to be away. We're visiting my mil & I have no idea what kind of computer access I'll have, if any.
Have a great week, everyone! For myself, my plan is to walk as much as I can, eat wisely, and hopefully not gain.

Hey, Linda.... mega congrats on your loss. That's wonderful. It is SO good to see our goals come into view. I know that there are other goals we set for ourselves that count as well, but when we see those scale numbers go down, that is such a bonus!! I am very happy for you.
Good news for me, too. This morning I hit THAT point I have been trying to attain for so long... below 150. Although it is not my official weigh in day, I still am overjoyed with the number... drum roll, please:
149.5 Just barely there... but, there, just the same!! Yayyy for our team! : )
Ev... you look SO cute there with Grace. Such a proud grandma! Nice shirt!!!

Linda... boy, aren't WE the chatty gals today!!
Glad you have your sneakers on now! Off to the gym for you.
I ALWAYS start any day off with lots of fiber... just like you, also a protein and a fruit. That is crutial. And, most of the time on Sundays I think to have some fruit or bring a bottle of V-8 to church with me... to overide the hungries I would get if I didn't eat something inbetween meals for that many hours (6:30-12:30 approx.) We have a few minutes before the services (sermon) get started when everyone can go and have some coffee, juice and donuts or fruit which I bring each Sunday. That's a perfect time for me to refuel. I forgot to do that yesterday... so I was pretty hungry by the time we ate. That wasn't a problem, though. I still had only a reasonable amount of lasagne (stopped eating when I was full and gave the rest to pups), nice salad,lf dressing, raw veggies and one piece of bread. The problem came LATER. Oh my!! : )
The dessert was planned. I made a Ritz cracker Mock Apple pie. I should have stopped there. shoulda, woulda, coulda!!
So, I know where to target my thoughts now...
This is really helping me to sort things out, and figure my battle plan!!
Thanks again.

Sue,
Consider trying my trick. Eat a lot of high volume/low cal stuff in the morning. Lots of fiber. before they come. When I'm not hungry it's easier for me to make healthier choices.
I've been catching up on stuff & trying to get to the gym. I think I can put on my sneakers now...

Hey again, Linda, Thanks a million for your input. Very much appreciated. Won't stress one moment longer about that measley little .25 of a pound! And, besides... on the ticker tracker it DOES say "150"!! I can live with that.
Have I told you lately how glad I am that you are here? You and Ev really hold me together.
Did you get a chance to go to the gym today... or will that take place later?
Yes, I did discover that it is going to be a whole lot more than just enjoying the family. I do that anyway... it is so wonderful to have the kids over that often. Especially when I think of all the families that don't get together, for one reason or the other. I find myself being VERY grateful for kids that CHOOSE to spend that day with mom and dad. I get all warm about it!! Then, there's the food/snack issues. They love their snacks, and I provide plenty of good stuff as well as others.
I want to be able to stick to just the good stuff,... but, I have not been successful in that area... I just get caught up in the magic and fun of the day... and eat what they are eating.
Oh... just thought of something... I do NOT eat the candy they snack on!! Yayy for me! : ) Check-mark in MY corner.
So, as I said before.. I am going to decide on ONE thing I can monitor on that day. It can either be something I eat only a small amount of, or eliminate one thing altogether.. or maybe I can find something else to work on... I WILL work on it.
Now I have a guideline of what needs to be done; that's better than just saying I need to control Sundays!!
Hi to everyone else, too. How are you doing so far? How was your weekend? As you can see... we all have our problem areas. It's good to talk about it.

Hi, Sue!
I think for the ticker, they just take your start and goal and divide it into quarters. However the numbers work out. So 150.75 is 1/4th of your way to goal. It has nothing to do with your current weight.
There's no reason why your current weight couldn't be 150.5 (Look at mine). That comes from the weigh-in tracker.
Your Sunday family-food situation sounds interesting. It sounds like it's not as easy as focusing more on family and less on food.
Linda

Yayyyy! My ticker worked. So much fun to see that on the posts!! I had TONS of trouble creating mine this morning. Finally got it working, but I see they STILL have it wrong. That's not supposed to be 150.75 --- but, the site has their own set of rules, and if I wanted .50 I should have put .50, not .5!!! The computer interpreted the .5 as .75 tsk. Will know better next time. And there was NO way I could have them change the starting weight to 150... they INSISTED it HAD to be 156... rules... blah.
Anyway I have one here... thanks to Ev! Am not even going to attempt a picture!! That I KNOW I don't know how to do!!

Hi Linda and everyone else!! Well... this weekend was so-so. Did GREAT on Saturday... very proud of that. Went to some friends' house for the evening and stayed well within my limits. Good for me.
Not so good yesterday. Could just kick myself. But, talked it over with dd, and decided that there is SO much emotional connections and family history/habits associated with Sundays that it would be VERY difficult to overcome all of it in a short time. I need to work on just one | |
