That beans and pineapple concoction sounds delicious! I'm going to try that tomorrow for lunch! How many pineapple chunks is it to one can?
Also, is one can too much since even half a can sounds quite filling? How many servings are per can?

HI I LOVE BAKED BEANS TOO. THEY ARE GOOD WITH PINEAPPLE CHUNKS OR CINNAMON, YES, CINNAMON.
JUST ADD ABOUT 1/4 TO 1/3CUPS OF CHUNKS TO ONE CAN. YOU CAN USE LESS. I ADD JUST A DASH OF CINNAMON,THEN MIX WELL, TAKE A WHIFF. IF YOU CAN LIGHTLY SMELL THE CINNAMON ,THEN STOP. AGAIN, YOU CAN ADD A LITTLE MORE BUT DON'T OVERWHELM THE BEANS, THEN BAKE OR SIMMER ON STOVE-TOP UNTIL FLAVORS MINGLE. [actually, a microwave may work, too}
ENJOY! LET ME KNOW IF YOU LIKE THEM THIS WAY
DEBBIE p.s. Beans are sub for meat, dinner or lunch

Thanks for all the information and the suggestions. I think I will try them with barbecue chicken, that sounds delicious! Actually the beans aren't bad. they're 98% fat free and have 140 calories per serving. And I think if I have a chicken breast glazed in barbecue sauce with the baked beans and maybe some other side, that will make a delicious dinner. I just don't know if my husband will eat them... LOL

On the inside of my husband's wedding ring it says, "More than beans". He loves baked beans so much that he tells the kids "I love you more than beans."
Generally, people eat them for lunch or dinner, with hot dogs or hamburgers or BBQ chicken. They are sweet, and soaked in a sauce made from brown sugar, mustard, pork fat, onions and other spices. Check the label: they AREN'T a low calorie food. They can blow a diet very fast. They are loaded with fiber and protein.
However, they are delicious. Depending on what part of the country you are in, you can eat them as a side dish with your BBQ and potato salad (New England), or you can use them as a topping on hot dogs instead of chili (the South). Or you can eat them all by themselves. It was not uncommon in American history to eat baked beans and brown bread for supper (New England and western states). In the wintertime, my kids enjoy this meal. Baked beans and ham is also a traditional church supper meal in many parts of the country.
You can also make your own, but it's time consuming and you have to soak the beans overnight, rinse them, and then cook them for hours. If you want to make them, you can look up a million recipes online for them, and everyone's grandma has their own "special" recipe. Also, you will need either a crock pot (slow-cooker) or a bean pot that will tie up your oven for an entire day.

I got two cans of baked beans yesterday and although I know I like them, I am not quite sure what to do with them. What do you do with baked beans? Do you eat them for breakfast and how? What do you eat besides the beans? Do you eat them for lunch or dinner? How? I'm open to any suggestions.
