Fast Break is just the name of the first stage here on Sparkpeople. It's where you focus on 3 mini goals you select when you first sign up, log what you'd usually eat on any given day to become aware of what and how much you're eating. A lot of people start reducing their calorie intake to fit within the range given and they also start excercising. This is actually part of Stage 2 already. Stage 1 (or Fast Break) serves to give you an opportunity how your food choices compare to the meal planner given and where you stand as far as your calorie intake goes.
