| I used to drink soda on a daily basis 5-6 sodas a day. I stopped drinking soda when I started here at SP. I have had maybe 3-5 that I snuck in on days that I was indulging in my bad habitual eating pattern that I have been trying to cast out of my lifestyle. I also used to drink Budweiser(beer) about 8 months ago approx. 10-12 a day. I am happy to say that I am a recovering alcoholic and still trying to get rid of the beer belly that I created for myself!

My husband just started with a personal trainer and the very first thing that he was told was to give up his diet soda. He did and has seen results. I enjoy drinking two cups of coffee in the morning and then just lots of water all day.

| About 12 years ago a friend and I were working together doing wallpapering every day. She drank diet soda and even though she was skinny, she could not lose her pot belly. When she switched to water only, the pot belly disappeared! I appreciated her...once I stepped on a customer's scales that was on the floor in the room we were papering....She GASPED OUT LOUD when she saw how much I weighed! That was humiliating enough to get me back to serious weight watching (I was also shocked!).

i've also cut out drinking soda its been about 6 weeks, with the exception of my DH's the other day . And by tasting it I realized I wasnt missing anything. All I ever drink now is water, I'm not into juice and i'm allergic to milk so water it is for me. And I honestly believe that is why i've lost the weight I have in the last 2 months is prolly from not drinking the soda anymore

| my son and i are both working hard to lose weight ..i had been a big soda drinker but know its better to cut out the sodas its hard to drink so much water as our tap water just doesnt taste so great compared to my mothers water from her in home water cooler so yesterday i ordered a water cooler you can rent it for 10 a month with a one year mandatory lease or buy one for 188 so we bought one and they deliver the big jug weekly cost is only 3.50 and that water lasts at least a week for all of us we are now drinking alot more quantity and quality of water and lots less sodas

| Excedrin migraine has caffeine in it and can help with the headaches without the calories. It helps me anyway. I still drink too much soda, but I used to justify it with the headaches, now I have one less excuse. Also, I recently learned taht a great treatment for headaches (including migraines) is a bottle of gatorade. You need to drink it in a fairly short amount of time. But it helps.

| I use to drink at least 6 cans of diet coke a day. I read an article on the problems others have with artificial sweetners and could see some the same problems ie: memory loss, confusion, tremors. I decided to cut out all soft drinks. The best advice is DON"T BUY IT IN BULK. I buy one bottle at a time, usually at work. I don't have any in the house. When I crave it at home I have to get in the car and go to the store. I am down to one bottle 2-3 times a week. If you don't drink diet don't start, just cut soft drinks from your diet all together. It took me about 6mos to get this far and I am looking farward to not craving it at all

| Hello I am new to this site/weight loss thing. I have read some of your messages. I drink 6 cans of coke a day, usually instead of eating. When i had my baby 7 months ago my doctor had me tested for diabetes...turns out i am borderline diabetic. I dont like the taste of diet coke. So today was my first day and i have done pretty good with the 8 cups of water, but still drank about 2 cans of coke today.Does anyone have any tips about how to curb the urge foe pop without going to diet.

a few months ago when I first decided to go on this weightloss journey, I was drinking 1-2 cokes a day. I switched to coke zero and started seeing a difference on the scale almost immediately... even though I hadn't even started really paying attn to my diet and exercise yet. Now it doesn't seem to be makin a difference at all. A friend asked me once what the point in the diet caffiene free soda in my hand was and I think she made a good point. It didn't even have the caffiene I want in it! lol But I was trying to trick myself into cuttin caffiene so maybe I could cut out sodas all together... didn't work. lol I like drinking water, especially if it's really cold. I don't like flavored waters and am kinda picky about what sodas I do drink. I really want to cut out sodas all together. Maybe it's all in my head, but I get so grouchy when I don't have at least one soda a day:( I kinda feel like I'm having to kick a drug habit! An ice cold, sweet tastin, bubbly habit.

Hey ladies,
I was a long time Coke drinker used to drink 6-8 cans a day. YIKES, then went to water and one can a day. Then to diet caffine free diet pop, but wasn't losing like i had been before. The problem was that I found out I am insulin resistant borderline diabetes, I can't drink any diet drinks because what it does is throw off my insulin receptors that tell the brain how much insulin to produce. It is weird but that is how they have linked diet pop to actually causing you to gain weight. They do say however if you are going to drink diet pop to drink it with a meal apparently it doesn't have the same reaction. So i save my diet drink to have with dinner, it is working for me now. So good luck ladies.

| Lifelong diet soda addict here, that is, I was. I finally made up my mind after reading a few things on the internet that it's really not good for me. I don't even miss it except occasionally. water is my drink of choice, although I do love all kinds of teas. So many herb teas are actually good for you, like green tea, and many of the others. I'm finding that as I change a lot of lifetstyle habits a little at a time my body is becoming accustomed to the healthier habits, like drinking water instead of diet sodas, or eating much leaner, and then when I do go back to less healthy ways, I can really tell a difference in how I feel. So, really, I don't even enjoy diet sodas anymore, but I crave water, and that's something I'm glad of.

| LORIATSPARK, to try to answer your question, soda has carbonated water in it......you know, the stuff that mkes it fizz. That's where you get the bloating from. Its not the caffiene or the sweetner. Does that help you?

Ok I have a question for anyone here. I am going to confess I am a DDP drinker. I am proud to say I have cut my intake down to 2 cans a day. I am working on my water intake and found those water flavor packets to add to my water and I love them. The question is they have the artificial sweetner in them and I was concerned that the sweetner may cause a bloating or effect any weight loss? OR is it he caffiene in soda's that causes the bloating and can effect your weight loss?
Desperately seeking help on the water intake!!

| I totally love drinking soda. But since I have been on the diet I try really hard to drink water. I make it a poing to fill up a picher of water for the day and dmy gaol is to drink it all before I am able to have a soda. So I use the soda as a reward for drinking all my water for the day. It seems to be helping. I have found that there are days that I don't even drink a soda and that I don't even miss it.

I cut out soda when I was losing weight a couple of years ago. I started drinking a lot more water, and would mix half juice or gatorade and half water, then 1/3 juice with 3/4 water. Finally I got down to a splash of juice just to spark up the water. That's mainly what I drink now, water with a splash of cran-raspberry juice. The splash of juice is barely any calories, and helps me to drink more water throughout the day.
I never drink soda, but I guess I'd allow myself one if it is a good day all-around with caloric intake and exercise as a treat. I don't mind diet soda, used to hate it. But I do not like the thought of the aspartame and other artificial sweeteners, they are not good for you so I mainly just avoid it altogether.

| I have just about cut out all of my soda drinking because I too notice it makes me bloated. I drink more water and some tea, but I have to admit I also seemto be drinking a bit more decaffeinated coffee.

Oh, that first drink of a soda! Yum!
I just can't stand diet soda. I have tried to drink it but I get the worst headaches! My neurologist says I am probably allergic to nutrasweet.
Anyhoo, I love soda. It is one of my biggest down falls. Everytime I tried to loose weight soda always brought me down.
This time though I have just resigned myself to the fact that I can enjoy 1 Pepsi a day. It makes me have to cut down on something else I want to eat but I am happy and that is what is important for me. I don't feel deprived. I attribute that to sticking with my dietary changes for 6 weeks now.
The rest of the day I drink water or unsweet tea. I love both so that helps.
