I'm also trying to lose weight before TTC, but I'm 32 and don't want to chance having a baby after 35 as the chances of things going wrong go up from there....anyways, I'm just going to do the best I can and start trying at the end of July.

Last time I was pregant I started at 250 lbs. and the dietician at the OB/gyn office actually said that if I ate healty and continued exercise, I didn't have to gain anything and could even lose weight while pregnant! A lot of people think that's crazy when I tell them, but I'm sure if you behave yourself and eat well(considering you only need an extra 300 calories a day while pregnant) you don't have to gain much at all...and the baby will take from you what it needs...I should've listened, but I gained 35 lbs. which is better than with my 1st when I gained 50 lbs. I figure each time I get better and gain less!!! LOL

i took the pill for 7 years and lost over 100 lbs before I went off it to have my son. unfortunately i gained a lot of weight quitting smoking and be preggo so here I am trying to lose it again. anyway, i was preggo by the 2nd month after being off the pill. I think that losing all that weight really helped me to be healthy for conceiving. We are currently TTC and I am much heavier so I guess time will tell.

i recommend taking off that amount of weight before trying and setting some good habits so that you dont gain a lot during pregnancy. It is so much harder to take off later! I say give your self 3-6 months to see what you can get done and then reevaluate. But I also understand the baby fever! lol. best of luck in what you choose

I personally think you should concentrate on a healthy lifestyle and then when you lose the weight talk with your DH and Dr. See how you feel at that time - you can't say for certain how you'll feel then. That way you can caryy your healthy lifestyle through your pregnancy (you don't want to start an exercise program then necessarily, but you can definitely continue with one). And I have heard many on here say that losing the weight helped them conceive. Happy TTC!

i don;t really know what to tell you except i wish i had been lighter when i got preg i think i was around 190 each time and went to prob 215 for me it was hard i am short like 5 feet and the added weight was killer on my back and whole body really. as for conceiving it took us 9 months give or take with the first and 6 mos or so for the second i am not sure the part weight plays on conceiving so i guess my advice lose what you can before you go off the pill and continue to be healty and fit while your trying and after you get preg i sure wish i had of.
Good luck

Hi everyone. i'm a constant lurker on the boards, but I never post. Anyways, I've been diagnosed with pcos since I was 17(9 years) and now that I'm married, we're very anxious to have a baby. I currently weigh 250. I made myself a deal that if I lose 25 lbs we can start activly TTC. I'm still on the pill, because my doctor said I should stay on it until I'm ready, as thats my best chance to ovulate the next month... SO i guess I'm trying to see if I should lose more weight or what. I don't want to get off the pill too early and than never ovulate because I'm still to heavy. Anyone have any advice, or similar stories?? THANKS!
