i had to laugh when i saw the title of the thread - i was just thinking of this yesterday! :)
with five of us in the house (3 under the age of 11) i am constantly doing laundry. if i am going full force at lugging baskets, etc and know i am getting some kind of cardio workout from it, i will log it under the cardio topic of "heavy cleaning". i do the same with scrubbing the tile floor and cleaning the bathtub.
there is also a cardio topic for gardening, so that one can be logged as well.

I agree!! Even daily chores like washing n gardening should be included n the calories burned should be reported. Peace.

| The best way to figure it out is wear a HR monitor while you are lugging it up and down and going for your walk.

Ok, so this may not apply to all of you but as I was dragging 3 baskets full of laundry up and down my stairs today, it occured to me that this should be on on our list of Cardio Workouts. I mean, think about it. I run around the house gathering up every last bit of dirty clothing I can find and then stuff it into a basket (or 2 or 3) Then I pick up the first basket and carry it down the stairs in my apartment building and out to my car. Then I run back up the stairs and grab the next basket and so on and so on until I have it all loaded up. Then I drive to the laundromat and one by one drag them all inside. I sit and read while it washes and then since I have an hour to wait around while it dries, I decide it's the perfect opportunity to go for a nice brisk walk. I come back, give my self some time to cool down and then it's time to take it out, fold it and drag it all back out to the car. A short drive home and then it's up the stairs one by one until it's all back into my apartment. I wonder how many calories I've burned.
