My hubby and I were in a similar situation too. He started bodybuilding, so he was trying to eat like 3000 calories a day. Usually at dinner time, he will take about 1/2 the food, and then my daughter and I split the rest (she's 3). At first, though, it was SO hard to watch him 'snack' all the time! He was mostly eating healthy food, but it was hard for me.

I don't know what kind of foods are in your 'bad' cabinet, but maybe try to get him to eat healthier? Even if he wants to gain weight, he still has to do it in a healthy way (not with potato chips). And you don't have to deny yourself all the time. Allow yourself to eat from the 'bad' cabinet once a week.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the advise ladies! It is driving me crazy! but he is under weight a little and im over a little he weighs like 150 and is 6'1 hes been on his little "see food" diet for quit sometime now...I just started mine recently after giving birth to our 2nd son in Jan. so really im the one imposing lol anyways im just trying to avoid his meal times lol which are very often, and when he decides he wants a snack i go for fat free yogurt or 100 calorie packs... its better than 250 calories per cookie lol

It would just kill me if this were to case!! He needs to support you and keep it out of the house! You can support him by adding calorie dense additions to his foods to help him gain (nuts and cheeses in his salads for instance!).

My hub and I are in the same situation. Since we both work, and generally the only meal we have together is dinner, we decided that we'd have dinners that are more geared toward my weight goals, and then he can get all of his mega-carb/fattening stuff out of the way for his breakfast and lunch. He works in construction, and burns about a bazillion calories a day, so he eats like a horse, plus needs tons of carbs. So, he's an eating machine at lunch (he packs things like big lasagna dishes, egg salad sandwiches, etc) and then I take lighter things for lunch, and try to focus more on my veggies and fruit. I've been rotten this week, but I'm going to get back on track with my fruits and veggies... My husband loves ice cream, and keeps the freezer stocked with it... I have to have a bowl every once in a while. Your "healthy" cabinet sounds like a great idea. I need to try that one. My husband likes that horrid sugar-filled cereal, which makes me ill just to smell it, so that one hasn't been a problem for me, but he likes to have candy around. He's actually hidden some of it, which has been good for me. Good luck!! It sounds like you are doing pretty well, and I'm sure that as you see great results in yourself, you will come up with even more ideas to steer yourself toward the healthier choices.

This is a very trying situation. My husband wanted to gain weight, and I wanted to maintain/lose weight when we first got married. We tried so many different items: 1) I prepared 2 separate meals (this didnt work, mainly due to the fact it has too difficult on time/food resources). It was harder on the one preparing the food, then the one eating it! 2) he would eat his snacks (junk food) in another room, so I wouldnt see him eat it (this didnt work for long, mainly due to the fact he would forget and eat in front of me again. This also meant that the food was in the cabinets available for the taking. Now, since we have been married 30+ years, the only solution which worked for us was to prepare the food for only one 'healthy balanced menu' and not mention the word 'diet' to him. This seemed to help our situation. Hope this helps.

Ok so im trying to lose weight which isnt a huge problem and wouldnt be that hard if my husband who i love dearly wasnt trying to gain weight. He brings every single thing you could think of into the house which is totally against what im trying to do (lose weight) ive seperated the cabinets (made a healthy one and a bad one) but i still find myself wanting to go over to the "bad" one any advise????
