| I am a newbie and having a difficult time too. Keep your chin up -- we're not perfect but remember, we are in this together. Everything we do that is right is just a baby step away from our goal.

Hi Nubianwife,
Don't beat yourself up. What are your three FastBreak goals? Conentrate on fulfilling those and just those, if necessary. Don't *worry* about other "mistakes." In phase two, you can phase in other healthy habits slowly -- you don't have to be perfect all at once.
On my first day, I binged like crazy in the evening. Second day too. And then things began to click, because I wasn't putting pressure on myself to be perfect, just better.
About weighing yourself... The scale doesn't weigh just bones, organs, fat, and muscle. It also weighs the food and water in your stomach, the urine in your bladder, the food in your colon, and the water you're retaining due to sodium and/or hormones. It's perfectly normal for a person's weight to fluctuate by 1-3 (or more) pounds in a single day! So after eating a big dinner, of course you were heavy.
The best time to weigh is first thing in the morning, naked, after you've gone to the bathroom, before you've eaten or drunk anything.
I weigh myself daily that way, but I don't pay much attention to those weights. Instead, once a week I average them, and determine that to be my "weight" that week. I chart both the daily weights and the weekly averages. The daily weights are up and down -- very uneven. The weekly average line is very slooth though.

hi NUBIANWIFE,
It not going to happen overnight. You should be proud that you stick with eating the meal that recommened by spark. It alright that you slipped up. You know how many times I slipped up. 100 times or more but I pick by self up and do better next time and that what you need to do.

Don't let the first day tell you how the rest of your trip will be. Old habits die hard, and eating like we want to is an old, old habit. Did you know that you have to do a thing 18 times before it becomes a habit but you must intentionally refrain from doing it - I would guess - 10 times that. SO. Keep trying. The only sure way to fail is to quit. You can do it.

The important thing is don't give up thinking you've blown it now, learn from your mistakes do a bit more exercise or eat a little less. Pick yourself up and carry on. Good luck

well I was all happy when I had the meal that was reccommened by spark. The my husband and I went out for dinner and I hate a huge plate of chicken alfredo. When I got on the scale in the morning I was 158 when I came home I was a whopping 158! So I am trying to take it easy and not beat myself up. You guys are so great and supportive!
