Also is there a local community rec area where you could both do some type of sport?
I can't see why she would be gaining if she is eating healthy foods.
I did find a food tracker for kids at home at www.funtasticfoodtracker.com
There is a guide for parents and for kids. She can put a magnet on the sections for each type of food she eats in a day. I also found Denise Austin has a kids fitness site as well. www.deniseaustin.com/fitkids
Here are 2 books that were suggested on SP that I am hoping to get soon as well. You can search SP for them it was an article that gives a little more discription on each one.
The family Fitness Fun book by Rose Kennedy $17
Product (book): Dr. Sears' LEAN kids by Williams Sears, MD, Peter Sears, MD, and Sean Foy, MA $14.95

Is there anyway you can take her swimming? I think it is great fun exercise for Children of all ages and sizes and it is easy to build up your fitness level. Swimming is also a life skill.

I,

Have the doctors said why they think she continues to gain weight if she's eating better now? I think workout videos for kids are great- do them with her so that it's less like "exercise", and more about a fun activity you can do together.

I have a 7 year old daughter who is severely overweight. I have had her to doctors and nutritionists and have followed their advice about changing her eating habits and getting her to eat healthier food. We have been working on this for a few months now, but instead of losing any weight, she just continues to gain. Physical excercise is difficult because we live in an area that is not very safe (at least we don't feel comfortable here) and is infested with fire ants. I have ordered her some excercise tapes for children that should be here in just a couple of days but don't know what else to do. I am very concerned about her health and how this extra weight will affect it and her self-esteem. All of her friends are skinny and she keeps telling me that she's fat. I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions?
